A community association providing facilities and services for the benefit people of faversham, and the wider east kent area. Our community association runs three community centres across East Kent our aims our: · Increasing Engagement in Sports & Physical Activities. · Reducing Loneliness & Isolation in the Elderly Population. · Giving People Means to Gain Employment. · Giving Positive Opportunities for Young People in the community. · Faversham Pride and Building Community Cohesion We run various support services that involve the use of food including a community cafe, food bank, a youth club that provides cooking classes and a free meal for the young people and we provide refreshments for the older people who come along to the centre for social clubs .

An Ofsted registered provision of Pre-School education for children aged 2-5 years of age. We are located within the grounds of Briary Primary School in Greenhill, Herne Bay, Kent. What premises does your project operate from? - we are a charity preschool, based on the grounds of Briary Primary School. Our charity number is 1202612. Our address is Briary Pre-School, Greenhill Road, Herne Bay, Kent CT6 7RS Tel 01227 742050 https://www.briarypreschool.co.uk How do you identify service users and their needs? - We are a preschool offering childcare . We have 60 families on roll and support families who are on low incomes, universal credit, families that have English as an additional language and are recognised as a setting supporting families, in an area of deprivation. We are also partnered with the Food Bank where we can refer families and Canterbury Hygiene Bank where we can refer families into. Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? - we provide support to families on special educational needs, we work with families who need housing support and welfare difficulties. We provide childcare and are funded by Kent County Council through childcare funding. Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? - We do not charge for the additional support provided. We are a childcare setting, we are funded by the Local Authority to take children from the age of 2 years - 5 years, some families who are not funded pay fees for their child to attend. However we do not charge for the surplus food it is distributed to our families for free. Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? We were allocated a slot with you for Sainsburys, Whitstable, however, every time my staff go along to collect our weekly slot, the produce has been given to Maya's Community Centre and there is nothing left for us, this happens every week. Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Sometimes we have press involvement for events, but not recently. We attend a Care Home every fortnight, called Herne Place. This is part of our intergenerational play with the local community. Please visit our Facebook page for the latest visit. We visit the Herne Place Care Home who I am sure would be happy to provide a reference.
