Surplus To Purpose (SToP) is an environmental enterprise which specialise in the interception of surplus food destined for waste. This produce may be past Best Before, suffered accidental damage or surplus to requirements. Trained personnel record, process and quality control all intercepted food, to ensure it is safe for consumption. This food is then redistributed through various activities such as; boxes for families, outside catering & events, Pay As You Feel cafes and into schools. SToP intercepts approximately 1,000 tons per year at its headquarters in Leeds - the equivalent of 2.3 million meals per year. A majority of the produce we intercept is perishable items such as fruit & vegetables, and bakery goods. However, we also intercept frozen meat & fish, chilled dairy items and non perishable items such as dry goods, drinks and confectionary. In 2022 SToP aims to become the U.K.s largest caterer of events using intercepted produce. From weddings, to conferences, birthdays and work lunches, we wish to provide environmental alternatives to mainstream providers of contract catering. Our mission is to Feed Bellies Not Bins, whilst educating people on the inhumane amounts of edible food wasted every year in the U.K. All of our spaces are inclusive, and all the food we intercept is available to all. We are a non-profit humanitarian project who rely totally on donations and volunteers to support our work in the community. Our 5 star rated kitchen , cooks around 800 meals and puddings a week , and all food handlers have HHUK training and level 2 food and hygiene in place. We have regular volunteers who come from all walks of life including NHS workers and some who have been homeless or experienced addiction in one way or another with their own family or friends. Without our volunteers and donators we would not be able to run. We rely totally on donations for our food parcels for people in isolation, homeless people on the streets and those housed and needing a helping hand. We use many of the food donations for making meals to take on outreach and hot home made soups, snacks, drinks and sandwiches. We also do a late night supper run on Tuesday evening, which includes , pret A Manger and hot chocolate Donations are collected by group admin in Pudsey, Pontefract, Leeds, Bramley, Wetherby and Bradford. All food is distributed on day of collection or within a 12 hour window if collection is pm and is Allergen protected, with dedicated fridges on our registered premises.. We serve both homeless and families in hardship, providing cooked meals, surplus foods and foodbank from Wetherby District foodbank..in leeds and communities of interest. As A proud member of Forum central , we take a keen interest in Men's health , street workers , families in hardship and people caring for children that are neurodiverse as well as elderly in the community This is our 9th year of operation, with an excellent standard of attention to specific needs, and dietary requirements and have held all high ratings across the board adhering to all regulations.. We are a much loved organisation, in the community and in central leeds , now partnered with DWP HHSF, providing energy and food vouchers to the elderly and households facing financial strain . As a proud member /Health and care leader within Elderly people's forum and forum central, we are consistent in providing quality , help and empathy to all that come to us .. We are keen leaders in saving waste and consistent with following standards that not only help people but protect our planet from harmful waste disposal. All services are voluntary ..with contributions gladly excepted for food bank items . Our organisation souly depends on HHSF, smaller grants given by Neighbourly Team and public donations.. We are a non Discrimination organisation, and have a strict policy to treat everyone in guidance with the human rights and equality act . We also provide a variety of essential food for animals in need. 🥰

Saint Michael's is here for people who need extra support on top of the day-to-day care they receive from GPs, district nurses, hospital teams and nursing home staff. Without the hospice, these people could be left to face the complex issues and forgotten challenges of terminal illness alone. We care for people with a variety of terminal illnesses, including heart failure, respiratory illnesses and neurological conditions; as well as cancer. We care in people's homes, hospitals, care homes and at our hospice. Saint Michael's believes there are a number of things that make our care special: •We have more expert staff and trained volunteers dedicated to supporting people with terminal illness than any other local organisation •Our team take time to understand and get to know each person who uses our services so the care we offer can be built around what is important to that person •Our care extends to support the people our patients love •We treat people as equals •We encourage people to participate as fully as possible in any decision that affects them or their care •We respect the choices people make about the way they live their lives and the care they want to receive •The care we offer is not dependent on a person's ability to pay Recent feedback demonstrates what people think of our services: •More than 90% of the people using our services felt well-cared for •95% of carers felt we made a positive difference to the life of their loved one •The industry regulator rated the care we offer as Outstanding We are a local charity that serves a population of nearly 160,000 people living across the Harrogate district. We are responsive to the needs of this community and dependent on their support for our success. We can only care for as many people as we have the funds to help. Currently we spend £5million a year providing local hospice care and training others to offer hospice standard care. Around eighty per cent of this work is funded by the individuals, companies, trusts and foundations who support us. We need your financial support to be able to continue to care for our community.
