Canine Partners

Loughborough, UK

Canine Partners transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with assistance dogs. These amazing dogs are trained to support with practical everyday tasks, from opening and closing doors, picking up countless dropped items, to helping with getting in and out of bed, and consequently provide their partners with a greater independence and quality of life. Our assistance dogs are trained to meet the needs of individuals with even the most complex physical disabilities. We currently help adults aged 18 and over (both civilians and former service personnel) who have a physical disability or condition that affects their daily life and limits their independence. Beyond the everyday help, with a canine partner by their side, many of our partners have seen a significant improvement to their mental health and confidence. Some partners have felt motivated to pursue a career or join university, and an increase in confidence has seen many start to go on dates, live with their partner, or get married. Family members and friends have also felt a considerable impact on their lives, with reduced stress or concern for their loved one, and little to no reliance on them to be carers. Employers too have benefitted from the expertise and experience of partners who have been able to join their workforce thanks to the provision of a canine partner. These dogs change people’s lives in so many ways, and with your support, we can continue to support and create many more life-transforming partnerships now and in the future. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from the public and legacies to help us continue our vital work. Every donation, big or small, helps Canine Partners continue to transform the lives of people with disabilities. Each partnership costs £50,000, from puppyhood through to the dog’s retirement.
