Marvellous Initiative Network is a Charity organisation based in Glasgow. Our mission is to provide support, empowerment, weekly food bank and educational opportunities to people in the community. Marvellous Initiative Network is passionate in reducing poverty and improving wellbeing in our local community. Our main objectives are to provide immediate relief for people facing food and financial insecurity, while also addressing the root causes of poverty through education and support. We aim to ensure vulnerable individuals and families have access to nutritious food and essential resources with dignity. We provide weekly Food bank to support families and people in need of food in the communities to help reduce food poverty in families on low income in Glasgow.  The food surplus collection has been so helpful in tackling food poverty amongst families in the communities in Glasgow.

Homeless Project Scotland is a fledgling charity, set up in October 2019 by a handful of volunteers that wanted to give homeless people on the streets  of our towns and cities hot drinks and food during the harsh winter nights. Initially we set out with backpacks of flasks and sandwiches walking the streets of Glasgow and Edinburgh to ensure that anyone found struggling was able at least to get a hot drink and something to eat. Within a short period of time, we managed to recruit a team of volunteers who began to distribute a selection of food, essential toiletries and warm clothes.  We were  fortunate to enlist the support from major companies such as Aldi, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Marks & Spencer, who have kindly donated supplies of food which we collect  during the day and then distribute to homeless shelters throughout Glasgow, Edinburgh and Lanarkshire in the evenings. Recently we were generously given free use of a van from Arnold  Clark which has enabled us to increase our collections and deliveries. Within six months we also managed to buy and renovate an old trailer which we use to provide a soup kitchen in Glasgow city centre three nights a week. The Covid-19 crisis has forced us off the streets and we have adapted our services to continue to support the homeless and vulnerable by providing home-cooked meals prepared by our volunteers , which we deliver weekly to homeless projects around Glasgow and Lanarkshire. 2,500 Weekly. A grant from Foundation Scotland has enabled us to set up a 24 hour telephone helpline. Cash for kids have provided funding  for food parcels, top up cards for utilities and mobile phones. We have also been able to provide mobile phones to the most vulnerable allowing them to access help and support services.  A grant from the William Grant Foundation has made it possible  to purchase office equipment, enabling us to  improve and expand our services to an ever increasing client base. From July 2020, a team of volunteers from St Andrews RC Bearsden uplifts surplus 7 days a week and delivers to ST Gregorys Wyndford food bank and Aspire which helps people get back on their feet. Historical info below. 1051GWR is a b/restaurant which ceased trading like all others on the 22nd of March 2020. On the 23rd we opened up as a takeaway. Our first customers were NHS staff from Gartnavel hospital whose canteens had been shut down. We could not charge them so gave them free soup and pizza and pasta. In addition to the 500meals given away daily to frontline workers we supply a further 500 to the elderly vulnerable and homeless. We now know every day where and when we are going to be delivering food so becoming a member of Neighbourly at this point seems appropriate and useful. We use volunteers from St Andrew's RC Bearsden who normally visit homeless shelters. Since March 2020 we have been delivering hot and cold food to 6/7 homeless/ vulnerable organisations. As at July 2020, we deliver supermarket surplus to the Wayside Club Glasgow city centre where homeless people can pick up food and St Gregorys food bank giving free food to needy families and individuals.
