Stepping Stone Projects provides accommodation and support across the North-West in a spread of locations for different client groups. In Lancashire specifically, we support and accommodate young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. At Stepping Stone Projects, we believe that everyone has the right to good quality accommodation and we provide our clients with the necessary support that will allow them to reach their optimum level of independence. By offering a range of stable short-term accommodation, both on-site and through our extensive dispersed accommodation with visiting support services, we aim to help our young people develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to secure and maintain independent accommodation. Burnley Community Kitchen will use food as the catalyst for delivering change in people's lives. Burnley as a town is in the top 20% of deprived districts in the UK, with 2 wards reaching the top 10% of deprived areas nationally. Therefore, general health is statistically worse than other districts of the UK, with 23.4% of children being classified as obese by year 6 age and ‘holiday hunger’ being an issue for those children who are provided with free school meals in term time. Many people in Burnley rely on food bank donations and many experience long periods of hunger.
