Donations to York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity help to fund the extras to improve our healthcare facilities, above and beyond the NHS budget, making patients feel better. We support our staff to make the hospital experience the best it can be for all who visit and need our care. These extras - big or small - can truly make a difference to our patients and their families. Partnering with us will help to ensure that every patient who visits us continues to receive the best care. Working with us as a Chosen Charity is one of the best ways to support our hospitals. Staff and customers can work together for a common aim, whilst feeling proud to be involved with a known local charity. We also like to give regular updates throughout the year so that you will be able to see how your money is benefitting patients and staff. Howe Hill for Young People provides intensive support to prepare the young people for move on accommodation and independent living. Howe Hill for Young People provides accommodation for homeless young people who have a local connection to York. An inclusive accommodation and education project, it provides support to help young people achieve independent living and long term goals, through focusing on personal responsibility and change. The service provides entry level supported accommodation to young and people teenage families

We support bereaved children, young people and their families living in the York area. We do this in several ways. We run a monthly drop-in peer support group for bereaved children, young people and their families to come together and play, do crafts (including special 'remembering' activities) knowing that everyone there has experienced something similar. We meet on the second Saturday of the month. We have launched a service offering one to one therapeutic support for those children who need it, delivered by one of our Bereavement Practitioners. We organise social trips and activities (e.g. Trampoling, theatre, football match etc) and have recently launched a coffee meet up group for the parents/carers of bereaved children. We have also hosted training days for schools about how to support bereaved children in their care.
