We are bridging the gap between food waste and food poverty locally. We support local Foodbanks, charities and community groups - helping them to feed people that need it most. we have established ourselves to relieve people in Surrey, West London and the local areas who are in need, by reason of their age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or social circumstances; particularly but not exclusively by the provision of surplus food and other essential items to individuals, Foodbanks and other charitable organisations. Surplus to Supper is supporting our local foodbanks and charities with surplus food, operational help and fundraising. Our aim is to benefit all foodbanks, organisations and charities throughout the borough and the county. We also operate as a catering kitchen; with a free nutritious and culturally relevant meal delivery service as well as the bulk catering for outside organisations/ companies providing food for parties, events, lunches and dinners as well as the regular meals at the Sunbury Cricket Club. It is vital that we explore other opportunities for the charity and other uses for the surplus food. Every time you buy a meal from our Surplus to Supper range, you provide a free meal to a person or family in the area Identified through our partnerships with Buy One Feed One Free. This encourages the injustice of Perfectly good food going to landfill while supporting local communities out of poverty. Food units! Financial donations are incredibly important for us to continue the work we do. Any amount is appreciated and goes towards running our organisation and critical projects

We are a busy centre at the heart of the community, and we strive to offer something for everyone, so no excuses for being stuck at home on your own when you can come and join in a large number of activities to keep you feeling fit and active such as exercise or language classes, bingo and computer lessons as well as hairdressing and chiropody. We try very hard to reduce social isolation for people in Spelthorne and the surrounding area by offering support and advice as well as providing a peaceful environment to come into to meet friends or make new ones. Our public café is busy and vibrant if you just want to relax and chat, which offers a wide range of meals and light bites, and is equipped for disabled access. All of our members benefit from discounted prices for activities, classes and also in the café, Our membership is available to people over the age of 50+. Our 'Friends of Staines Riverside Centre' charity, who are based within the centre, subsidise outings and social events for our members and help to provide equipment for many of the activities that take place here through their fund-raising efforts.

While thousands of Londoners go hungry each day, safe, healthy and usable food is being disposed of as waste. City Harvest collects this nutritious surplus food from all segments of the food industry including restaurants, grocers, manufacturers, wholesalers, hotels and caterers. WHO DO WE DELIVER TO? We help vulnerable people throughout London. City Harvest regularly delivers high quality, nourishing food to organisations that provide meals to vulnerable people including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, centres for veterans, and organisations that assist people with alcohol or drug addictions. WHAT IMPACT DO WE MAKE? We rescue almost two tons of food weekly. This food helps organisations serve thousands of healthy meals each week and reduce their annual grocer bills, freeing up funds that can be reinvested in other vital support services. Some of the food we rescue is diverted from going to landfill where it would release gases toxic to the environment. HOW DO FOOD DONORS BENEFIT? We rescue food in a safe, easy, reliable way. We make it simple for food donors to get their nutritious food to desperate people and reduce their waste collection costs. Customers prefer to patronise sustainable restaurants and employees experience a huge morale boost from giving to those in need. Food donors appear daily on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds. The Sustainable Restaurant Association encourages food donations to City Harvest. With one new van we'll be able to deliver 135 tons of food in one year. This translates to 270,000 meals to people in need.
