M&S Shrewsbury

Our vision is a community where food is valued, not wasted. Our mission is to redistribute food and promote food waste reduction for environmental and social good. Since April 2016, we have collected good surplus food from supermarkets, manufacturers and farms and shared it with local charities and community groups, saving them money so they can do more. Our community partners support the homeless, the old, the vulnerable and those on low incomes. We also support community Foodshare Tables and Fridges where everyone is welcome to collect a few bags of food to help stop food waste and stretch household budgets. Any donation you can make will enable us to train new volunteers, pay for fuel for our charity van, buy in additional surplus from FareShare to supplement the food we collect to nourish our community. We are a mixture of older and younger people all with different needs. We organise a range of social activities at our scheme most of which include food. We're starting a community tuck shop / trolley which will enable our residents to stay as independent as possible. We will hold a regular coffee morning that will support the residents here and members of our wider community. We will also be able to hold a healthy eating workshops with fruit smoothies ad healthy diets. This can be in a series of sessions and work with what is in season, which the food donations could help towards.

Midlands Air Ambulance is the charity responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving the communities of six Midlands counties: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. We were delighted to work with M&S Stafford for Charity of the Year 2015/16. We still need support to help operate our crucial ambulance services.
