Forest Academy is a one form entry primary school and part of the Inspire Partnership Academy Trust. The majority of our families live on the local Shrublands estate in social housing. We serve a community with high levels of social deprivation. Over 95% of our families live in social housing on the local housing estate. Over 67% of our pupils are entitled to free school meals. We work closely with many partners and other charitable organisations to try to help our families navigate their way through the challenges they face. In addition to support with basic needs, we look to work closely with our families to build skills, confidence and resilience through family learning programmes. Many of our families have shared their worries about coping with the cost of living crisis and balancing their budgets to meet the increased costs of food, energy and the overall costs of getting by day-to-day. We have started to run a small food bank here at school through the Felix Project and any other surplus food would enhance our offer, enabling us to support more of our families and the wider school community.

ln August 2007, ECE recieved a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of 300,000 members of the IYF (International Youth Fellowship) for our contribution to the UK branch. In September 2008, Esther Community Enterprise was awarded certificates from the Lord Mayor of Croydon, for having carried out 100 hours of volunteering activities. On the 2 June 2011, ECE was awarded with theQueens Award for Voluntary Service, MBE. This is the highest award given to voluntary groups in the United Kingdom, and as such, is equivalent in status to the MBE. This prestigious UK National Honour recognises outstanding voluntary contributions and sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering, with the work of those awarded being judged to be of the highest standard. We aim to meet those who have needs in the local community by redistribution of food and other consumables donated from retailers. ECE makes a worthwhile collective response to the 3 tenets of sustainable development, namely social, economical and environmental needs. ECE forms a consortium with other charities, faith groups, projects and organisations. We have over 70 Project Co-ordinators. They manage and help to distribute the food/groceries and clothing items within the local communities across the UK, on behalf of ECE. We have sustained our social enterprise through the goodwill and hard work of over 400 drivers and countless volunteers, who contribute their time, transportation and finance to this worthy cause. Near sell by date food is collected on a daily basis from a range of supermarkets and other retailers and diverted to those that need it most ECE feeds in excess of 40,000 people per week and this is steadily on the increase as we expand across the UK

REHOBOTH COMMUNITY OUTREACH CLUB located 1-18 Allwood Close, Sydenham SE26 4JP is a charity and it has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1168822. Rehoboth Community Outreach club started reaching out to vulnerable families in 2013, offering befriending, parenting & life skills training. Over time the services evolved expanding to offer mentoring to young people, employment skills training and a food bank. In March 2014 Rehoboth started receiving requests for support with addressing the increasing issue of food poverty amongst the single homeless living in hostels and the local street homeless, this saw the launch of the Community Lunch Club. Initially the lunch club was feeding 20 people every Monday with a 2 course hot meal. But this number quickly grew to 150 people a week when Rehoboth partnered with Miriam Lodge providing meals to their most vulnerable homeless residents. The partnership has expanded and Rehoboth community outreach club “The Lunch Club” now deliver 200 meals every Monday across 2 hostels. In addition, we have some homeless people living locally in the community who walk-in and collect their meals. The feeding programme also provides a soup social, with home cooked vegetable and chicken soup with rolls to the residents in the hostels on a Friday. The generosity of our local donors business and others in neighbouring community, with financial donations from the church membership and individuals, make it possible to provide our services free to vulnerable individuals and families. The community outreach service is facilitated by a team of 25 volunteers who cook, serve food, clean, deliver the meals, and provide the befriending, mentoring and training activities. Rehoboth hopes to double its feeding programme to 300 meals a week by the end of 2018; to support at least 50 homeless people to capacity build their employment and life skills, enhancing their potential of accessing employment, education and training opportunities. The Rehoboth Community Outreach Club aims are to contribute to breaking the generational cycle of poverty and deprivation within families, inspire hope & healing in the heart and soul of vulnerable individuals and communities and encourage peace, unity and respect across generations. We seek and appreciate further financial, time and resource donations that enable us to meet our vision of UK communities free from food poverty and benefiting from sustained upward social and economic mobility for everyone.
