M&S Rochdale

We started the soup kitchen four years ago serving soup from the back of a car outside Rochdale town hall one night a week. Within nine months we had enough volunteers to do this four nights a week and Saturday lunchtimes. We now have our own premises behind Champness Hall in Rochdale, from which we now aim to open a drop in centre seven days a week, serving lunches, soup kitchen in the evenings, providing hot showers, washing machine and drier, computers for applying for jobs and courses and medical services and counselling.

We operate from our Foodbank Centre Monday to Thursday between 10.30am - 12.30pm and Friday 11am-1pm. We have a team of about 15 volunteers each day who : Receive food donations. Date and sort these into categories and store them in our warehouse Transfer food from the warehouse to the picking shelves Pick Food Boxes for 4 different family sizes Meet with clients identify any signposting needs Offer prayer if agreed Give food to clients.

Our mission is to make every moment count for adults in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, living with a life limiting illness with the vison to support them to live and die well, according to their wishes. We work collaboratively to provide the highest standards of physical, psychological and spiritual care to our patients and those who love them.
