M&S Oswestry

Oswestry Senior Citizens Club is a charity based in Oswestry Community Centre supporting elderly and disabled people. The Club was originally formed in 1949 and has been a registered charity for 28 years. Our charity number is 1044845 and we are currently switching to a CIO structure (No 1216727). We provide social events, bingo, coach trips and dance nights. We use donations to help meet the needs of the people we support. Our club provides an inclusive friendly social space for people to interact. We actively support people with special needs and disabilities. Our own club members include a group from an assisted living home who attend with Carers. We also work with Local organisations such as Freda’s Daycare Centre, Hengoed Park and Ashwood. Cancer Care is a particular interest to us and two Cancer support groups funded by Lingen Davis use our hall. We have been running a successful food share table with supplies from Osnosh, but this is closing on 17 July 2026. We are applying for the food surplus programme and would distribute surplus food through a share table to provide surplus food for the community based. The share table also provides a friendly social space with a cup of tea and a chat. We have been running a Warm Hub over last winter and intend to do the same this year, which will connect well with a share table. We use our building (Oswestry Community Centre, Lorne Street, Oswestry, SY11 1ND) for our own activities. We also make this space available to many local groups such as U3A, Parents and SEN Children, Men’s mental health, Shropshire Mental Health Support, Neurofriends, Slimming World, Bulgarian language school, Ukrainian, Nigerian, and Philippine events, OsRocks and many more. We have a total monthly footfall of 2500 visit. We have seen a month on month increase over the last 3 years. Oswestry Senior Citizens Club is a charity based in Oswestry supporting the elderly and disabled people. We provide social and support activities for our community. We passionately believe in voluntary work, no one at the charity is paid. Surplus food will be distributed via a share table. This will involve our club members, Attendees of other groups using our hall and the wider community. Our services are not charged, and our service and beneficiary categories are the local community, club members and users of the hall. Linking this with our Warm Hub will help us provide social interaction, signposting and help with food poverty.

At OsNosh CIC we and our team of amazing volunteers prevent food waste through surplus food collection, redistribution and cooking. We cook surplus food creatively to educate, inspire and nourish the community, helping to fight food poverty and promote food equality. In line with covid restrictions, we are growing a community hub for people to re-engage with one another through community garden projects and community meals which tackle the rise of social isolation and will provide much needed help to heal our mental health, which post Covid has never been more important. In establishing our Hub at The Centre in Oswestry, we are creating a convenient and accessible meeting point for local people wanting to learn more about healthy food: how to source it, grow it, cook it and enjoy it. At the very heart of OsNosh is a desire and intent to connect local people with nutritious and tasty food, grown/produced locally, using methods that are sustainable and have less impact on the environment, that bring economic benefit to the sector and the region. In doing so we will meet our aims to reduce food waste, reduce environmental impact, and improve access to healthy food for all.

Worship services, various weekly groups and activities for all ages in relation to being a parish church in the Church of England and the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ. At the heart of everything we do is a trust in the living God who has revealed himself through his word, the Bible. During the central part of our Sunday meeting we sing a mixture of contemporary and traditional songs. We also hear about and pray for church family news. A passage from the Bible is also read and then explained to us in a talk. After the Sunday services we put surplus food donations out on share tables. Any donations are given to support Ukrainian refugees. Once a month on a Wednesday afternoon we hold ‘Cuppa, Cake, and Chat’, a free community cafe with refreshments, cake, and a thought for the day from the Bible. As people leave they can take frozen meals home with them. We also deliver food donations to the local foodbank every Monday morning. More information can be found at www.holytrinityoswestry.org
