M&S Keighley

The Welcome Project is a cooperative of local people working together to tackle local issues. The Welcome Place Cafe was born when older people growing vegetables were encouraged to put them together to make soup to share. Since then, people affected by food poverty have joined the group until we outgrew our space. We joined Keighley Food Poverty Action Group and now provide 45 hot meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that along with our partners there is hot food available to those who need it each day. We have no funding for this project but have paired up with Airedale Methodist Circuit who let us use the Shared Church Hall. Our aim is that everyone should be able to eat a nutritious meal with dignity. All are welcome, no questions asked. Those who can afford to pay sit with those who can't. There is no distinction made and donations are made anonymously. A volunteer social worker is on hand to offer information about support services and offer practical help. We encourage volunteering to help grow vegetables or to cook and serve them to increase skills and confidence for those seeking employment.

Our Manorlands Hospice is situated in West Yorkshire on the northern edge of the village of Oxenhope. We provide incredible palliative care and complementary therapy services to support people with life-limiting illnesses which can involve complex physical or psychological problems. Our care focuses on helping resolve these problems whilst supporting family, carers and close friends and we campaign to improve the lives of the people living with them. We see the person, not the condition. This care is known as specialist palliative care. We offer this support to people living in Craven, Airedale, and Wharfedale as well as central, northern and western areas of Bradford. It costs £2.9m per year to run the hospice, we need to raise £1.6m to continue to provide incredible care each year. A staggering 1 in 4 of us are affected by one of the conditions that Sue Ryder cares for. Your support plays a vital role in the continuation of our incredible care. Thank-you.

Dementia Friendly Keighley is a Registered Charity based in the Airedale Shopping Centre in Keighley. Our Information and Support Centre offers help and advice to people affected by Dementia together with a range of groups and activities. The Centre is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and you are welcome to call in for a coffee and a chat
