We are a local community group with the primary aim of reaching out to help people who are most in need. We receive food surplus from supermarkets within the area and provide for people and families who are going through financial difficulties and struggles within our community. Our work is making a real impact in people's lives and offers valuable support where it is needed most by ensuring people have food at their table. I believe that through the simple act of giving we can overcome many problems we can face in life whilst helping others in our neighbourhood through difficult times. Charity is held to be the ultimate perfection of the human spirit, because it is said to both glorify and reflect the nature of God. ... Charity has two parts: love of God and love of man, which includes both love of one's neighbour and one's self. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul places the greater emphasis on charity (Love).As a community group this is what we endeavour to achieve. Objectives The object of Springwater community group is to carry on activities which benefit the community in particular - Provide Essential Food Supplies: Ensure that struggling families in derby ,burton ,Leicester,Nottingham and surrounding areas receive necessary food supplies, so no one goes hungry due to financial difficulties. - - Reduce Food Waste: Partner with local supermarkets ,Farash and food businesses to collect and distribute food items that are close to their sell-by date but are still safe for consumption, thereby reducing food waste and promoting sustainability. - Foster Community Support: Create a network of volunteers and community members to assist in the collection, sorting, and distribution of food, fostering a spirit of community support and cooperation. - Educate on Food Security: Educate the community on issues related to food security, nutrition, and sustainable practices to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their food consumption. - Collaborate for Advocacy: Work collaboratively with local authorities, charitable organisations, and other stakeholders to address the root causes of food insecurity and advocate for policies that support vulnerable populations.

Being part of the Community Fridge Network, our Charnwood Community Fridge is completely a non-profit/voluntary service that is dedicated to reduce food waste and support community resilience. Our Community Fridge is run by volunteers. Unlike conventional food banks, our Community Fridge is open to all, free of charge, and anyone can contribute to, or use food from the fridge. We collect donated food from local supermarkets, other local businesses, producers and private household, preventing waste by making it available to anyone in the Loughborough and surrounding areas. Our project operates from: Shelthorpe Family Help (Previously known as Shelthorpe Children & Family Wellbeing Service - CWFS): Woodthorpe Road, Loughborough, LE11 2NF. Located within the Shelthorpe Family Hub and share the site with Lift Beacon School/nursery, Charnwood Community Fridge has been a source of support for so many more vulnerable families and a meaningful space for people to socialise, reduce isolation and enjoy a sense of community. Falcon Support Services is a homeless charity not only offering accommodation and support but also real opportunities to help people on their journey of change to independence and social inclusion by linking people to work experience, volunteering pathways and community integration. The Falcon Centre, a 30 bed supported housing project, acts as the hub for the charity, a quick access supported housing project providing en-suite catered accommodation to assist in crisis situations. It also accommodates our community projects which include our vital rough sleeper service and a community drop in service to socially isolated individuals. Our Rough Sleeper Service provides safety and warmth, meeting practical needs such as food, drink and washing facilities. In addition, we provide 1 bed for the No Second Night Out initiative and have provided 3 emergency beds in a dormitory style over the winter period which has provided shelter in urgent situations. Our Community Drop In Service is open access and run by trained volunteers 4 days a week. Community members can access the support for free as well as an interpreter in Polish, Lithuanian and Russian if required. Our Accommodation Services provide 69 bed spaces and include multiple sites to address different beneficiaries and needs; a 5 bed shared house (Peregrine) working with offenders, a 6 bed shared house (Park House) working with those under 35 years old, a 3 bed shared house (Moor House) used for those with lower needs, a 6 bed shared house (Bridgeland House) working with unaccompanied Asylum Seekers, 5 bed shared house for priority need homeless, a 3 bed shared house (Chapel House) and 10 self-contained flats (Marshalls Court). All service users are allocated a Support Worker that will work with them to address any support needs they may have, manage their accommodation and move onto independent living in the community. Our Community work includes a project called ‘Muto’ which provides practical workshops encouraging upcycling/recycling of textiles. Community workshops can be delivered at any community venue with electric hook up.
