We are a small community group who helps out in the local area helping families who are facing food poverty. If I collect excess food I hand it out to the homeless community. The families I help rely on the donations I give to them. A lot of people I help are really struggling to feed their families and the donations are very much appreciated. I also believe that food should not be sent to landfill when people need it. When I have got dog/cat food I have helped out elderly neighbours and homeless cats within the community My donations have helped out a significant number of families and in some cases they are saying that I have kept them alive during these tough times everyone is facing

We run a Soup kitchen on a Monday evening in Hull we also support other Soup kitchens in Hull. We also offer advice on Benefits and sign post our service users to relevant agencies when needed and requested. We follow all data protection and safeguarding policies. We also support a local foodbank and 2 local schools with provisions for a breakfast club and a backpack for 15 of the most vulnerable pupils. We have also supplied many food parcels to help feed children during lockdown. We help 9 families on.low income with very little disposable income with regular food donations.

We are a small charitable group devoted to supporting older adults to achieve better health and wellbeing through befriending, socialising and ongoing weekly drop in whereby small exercises, drinks and hot meals are offered free of charge. We support older adults in other ways such as organising trips and walks. With the support of Neighbourly, our work with older adults is producing better outcomes through our capacity to collect and distribute surplus food to vulnerable people in the community. We have a team of volunteers who distribute food to older adults who are house bound and this is tied to our befriending agenda. Since becoming involved in surplus food collection, our Drop in has become a weekly event during which food items are also distributed. Our team of volunteers are able to pick up and drop off members on our Drop in days. This has led to a boost in the attendance. We have continued to improve the way we support older people with food security and in seeking out better ways of packaging and transporting surplus food when collected. We have invested in temperature controlled chilled packaging solutions and are very grateful to 'Icertech' for their support in this area. Women-Accede has gained reputation as 'A Friend of Older People' because we are now in a position to reach more people due to an increase in the number of our volunteers and our weekly Drop in sessions. We work in partnership with other community groups and projects such as Hull Food Partnership, Lonsdale Community Centre, Wavelength (Tackling loneliness with technologies), BAME Environmental Network (BAMMEN), Cooperation Hull and Humber All Nations Alliance. We have a history of partnership working and had successfully worked with Age UK and Hull Afro-Caribbean Association to support older adults in overcoming hinderances to active and healthy lifestyles. Our activities are currently run from the premises of Lonsdale Community Centre, Lonsdale Street Hull. Our client group is multi-ethnic; in addition, daily users of Lonsdale Centre have also become our beneficiaries including those who become aware of our project through our outreach work in the local community and places of worship. We have been well represented at the various partnership meetings organised by the Council, The Forum, Carers Information Service and in particular, those to do with Adult Social Care. This helps us to continue to seek for new ways of working collaboratively to improve the wellbeing of our older adults through better care services, delivery and research. We are interested in food growing and allotment work and would require support in this area. We are optimistic about using our surplus food collection project to promote the link between good food and positive mental health. As a group, all of our surplus donations are free of charge.
