M&S Glasgow Bothwell St

We run a soup kitchen on the pavement of Glasgow City Centre. We've been involved in this project for 5 years and run every Thursday and 2 of 6 Sundays. We collect surplus food from M&S Bothwell St at the close of business. Using this food, we help around 40 - 70 people of an evening. All food donated is distributed to our homeless client group alongside our own flasks of soup, tea and coffee and sandwiches, fruit, crisps and biscuits. Anything left over when we are packing up is taken to a homeless hostel. We have started a new venture on a Wednesday night when as a group of 9 (varying volunteers each week) we send three teams of 3 round different routes in the city centre & west end. We find/locate those people spending the evening or night on the pavement and provide them with some sustenance, some personal assistance and some support.

We are a community health project run by volunteers with the aim of improving awareness of healthy living in North Glasgow. Our work is done through three 'Community Food Hubs' in Springburn, Milton and Royston. Our current activities include: low price fruit and vegetables sessions, a gardening project, cookery groups, weaning workshops and outreach work.

Blue Triangle is a registered charity (SC010858) a registered social landlord (under the Scottish Housing Regulator), and a registered society (under the Co-operative and Community Benefits Societies Act 2014). Although we own properties, we are not a landlord in the traditional sense of the word, as the core of what we do, is called “supported accommodation” and we only accept referrals to our accommodation from local authorities. We provide safe and secure mainly hostel type accommodation for vulnerable people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or have a Looked After and Accommodated background. Staff are present on site, in some cases, 24hrs, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, and they work with service users to help them gain the right skills to move onto more independent living and achieve a better quality of life We currently provide 17 registered services, over 25 sites employing over 300 staff based in 9 local authorities. We support 297 people a night and 665 per yr
