When You Wish Upon A Star

Nottingham, UK

When you wish upon a star aims to grant the 'wishes' of children from the age of 4 to 17 years who are suffering from a life threatening or terminal illness. When You Wish Upon a Star has a simple mission, to grant the Wishes of children living with a life threatening illness. The charity was founded in Nottingham by Barbara White who was so inspired by a seriously ill four year old with a dream to meet Mickey Mouse that she wanted to bring smiles to the faces of many more brave and courageous children. Our Wishes have the power to transform the lives of the children and families we work with and since 1990 we have proudly granted over 17,500 Wishes across the UK.

Firefly Cancer Support Service

Doncaster, UK

Founded in 2006, we have a fleet of Firefly Express vehicles which provide a free shuttle transport service for patients undergoing cancer treatments at regional cancer centres using volunteer drivers. This helps those suffering from cancer, as well as their family and friends. Through kind donations from different sources throughout the years, we now have five vehicles to enable us to run this service for as many people as we can help. We exist to change cancer patients' journeys, and also to raise awareness, particularly amongst young people. Through our support and fundraisers, we increase awareness of cancer and remove the stigma and embarrasment of cancer problems in our local communities. At our Firefly events, people also meet new people, share experiences and make new friends. Please support us by following our page and sharing our work with your community.
