Food is supplied to us free by supermarkets and wholesalers and we redistribute to charities at no cost. This helps reduce food waste in the local area – one of our main aims The food is then distributed free of charge to other local charities who provide food for their clients This ensures that the food gets to the right people, and helps us to achieve our second aim of reducing food poverty It also helps these charities to provide much needed additional support in other areas by reducing their food costs Most of our operations are carried out by volunteers, helping us to provide around £10 of food for every £1 donated We believe that this is the most effective mode of operation and would happily provide advice for other new start-up food hubs wishing to follow our lead

To reduce food waste and tackle food poverty by redistributing surplus or best before foods from supermarkets, businesses and individuals in the Bicester Community.

Bicester Foodbank supports individuals and families across our community who are experiencing financial crisis and cannot afford the essentials. Working with a wide network of referral partners, including schools, health services, charities and local agencies, we provide emergency food parcels, signposting support and a warm, dignified welcome to everyone who comes through our doors. Our volunteers sort donations, prepare parcels, offer a listening ear and help connect people with further support such as debt advice, benefits guidance and community services. Last year we supported hundreds of local households, and demand continues to rise. To keep our service running, we rely on: Surplus food donations, especially long‑life items and fresh essentials Volunteer support in the warehouse, at sessions and behind the scenes Financial contributions to help us purchase core items and sustain our operations Our mission is simple: to ensure no one in Bicester goes hungry. With the community’s help, we can continue to provide practical support and hope to those who need it most.
