At East Belfast Mission we are here to change lives. Our doors are open to anyone in need. We offer services which aim to alleviate the difficulties faced by our community through projects such as our Hosford Homelessness services and 26 bed homeless Hostel, our Employability project which helps people back to work, our Irish Language project to connect a divided community and of course our thriving church community which offers community groups, counselling and pastoral care to those who need it. Our primary project supported through Neighbourly is our East Belfast Mission, Community Fridge. Our community fridge is also utilised by our other service users and by individuals who are referred to us by other local and partner community organisations. There is no charge for accessing any of our services, those who are able/would like to are welcome to make a £3 donation for using the fridge. We provide a free debt counselling service for people who are struggling with unmanagable debt. We visit clients in their own homes, which means that our service can be accessed by anyone. We will help anyone regardless of their religious beliefs, age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We are based at Greenisland Baptist church and our CAP Centre covers the Greenisland, Carrickfergus and Whitehead area. We currently collect food from M&S, Sainsbury's, Lidl and Tesco. This food is then distributed in hampers to our clients and also at our Community Fridge in the courtyard at Greenisland Baptist church from 10am to 12 noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our service users for Christians Against Poverty (CAP) come through self referal on our freephone number 0800 328 0006. Our community fridge is open to everyone in our community. Our service to both CAP and the community fridge is completely free. We advertise the community fridge every week via our church Facebook page and we advertise the work of cap through local community magazines and local press so that more people are aware of what we do. We also work in partnership with the local Trussell Trust Foodbank in Carrickfergus. We give them lots of referrals of people who need more than we can provide at our community fridge and they also referr people to us who need more support with unmanagable debt issues.

Team HAVEN is a non-funded Voluntary Community Organisation which provides help and support to the homeless, vulnerable and those experiencing food poverty in Belfast and the surrounding areas. We set up a static feeding station outside Blinkers in Bridge Street six nights a week, providing hot food and drinks to those less fortunate than ourselves. Each night we can have 50 people or more calling to the table. There are people of all ages, backgrounds, parts of the country and world. Some are rough sleepers, others have a hostel bed or some are just vulnerable, in need of company and support ~ we never judge. Our Outreach Volunteers cook hot meals, make sandwiches and snack packs, and give out a never-ending supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and bottled water. We also have a food bank from which we distribute food parcels to anyone who is struggling, for whatever reason. We can provide a minimum of three days' emergency food supplies, and we work alongside and support other food banks and charitable organisations in North Belfast. Any donations we receive help us to continue our outreach work and keep the shelves of our food bank stocked to help anyone in need.
