Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS)

The Mildmay community Centre is committed to serving the needs of the local community through engagement, participation and partnerships. We are based in London in the borough of Islington. We provide many activities and projects that support those experiencing isolation and poverty as well as working in partnership with local social enterprises and charitable organisations . We are currently striving to set up new projects that our community are asking for : such as a gardening growers project, a food bank, a stay and play and community cafe. Like all charities we are always on the look out for help, donations, volunteers and funding for projects. Due to the Covid 19 crisis we were closed to the public, but continued serving our community hot cooked vegan meals on a Thursday and supermarket food surplus on a Friday. Our volunteers deliver food to the door for the most vulnerable in our community. All donations are gratefully received. We are now re open for our local community to come back and get involved in our various services which include continuation of our food and hygiene bank and co op, After school club, community gardening club, coffee and crafts morning, Golden oldies bingo club, community kitchen and various other projects and services which support our local community. We are particularly focussed on the more vulnerable and isolated people in our community and those experiencing poverty and deprivation.

We are aiming to make sure that people can come in and eat at least two meals a day. We have an experienced cook who works with a team of volunteers to produce nutritious meals from food donations. We also run a project called Purfleet Pantry where people can join our membership club to be part of a scheme giving them access to cooking lessons, health and nutrition sessions and weekly grocery parcels. We are aiming to eradicate food poverty amongst our clients and the wider community and to provide coaching around nutrition, health and well-being.

Second Helpings Stamford is a community food redistribution charity that tackles food waste while supporting people experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship across Stamford and the surrounding area. We collect surplus food from supermarkets, manufacturers and local businesses, ensuring good food is not wasted but instead reaches those who need it most. Through our pantry, community café, food support programmes and partnerships with local organisations, we help individuals and families access affordable food, reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing. We also provide volunteering opportunities that help people build confidence, skills and connections within their community. The support we need most is access to surplus food, which enables us to continue meeting increasing demand and supporting more people. We also welcome volunteers to help with food collection, sorting, distribution and community activities
