How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Virgin Media O2 has donated money and volunteer time, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

JKN Outreach

Bradford, UK

JKN Outreach was established in November 2018 with the purpose of supporting the most vulnerable members of society by providing access to food, clothing, and essential toiletries. We are a 100% volunteer-led and community-funded organisation, operating at grass-roots level from the heart of Bradford. Our work is driven by a commitment to alleviating hardship, promoting dignity, and ensuring that no individual or family in need is left without support. By mobilising local resources and fostering community spirit, we aim to deliver practical assistance and compassionate care to anyone who requires it. A service that's run by the people, for the people.

Emmaus Suffolk

Ipswich, UK

Initially, Emmaus Suffolk will provide work opportunities and experience to those who have been unemployed for a long time. By offering volunteering roles within our (not for profit) business we want to give people the chance to make a difference for themselves, in a supportive environment through work related training. We will follow the proven Emmaus Social Enterprise model which has been successfully implemented across the UK, by setting up a charity shop restoring and selling recycled furniture. Once the social enterprise is income generating, surpluses will support a Community House where the volunteers can live. Companions (our volunteers that are homeless or workless) will be provided with employment, training, increased skills and experience, knowledge and self-respect and a place to live. Independent research by Cambridge University in 2008 showed that with the potential savings to the criminal justice, legal and health systems, an Emmaus Community has the potential to save the tax payer over £24,000 per resident each year.

Take Five volunteering 2022-2023

At Virgin Media O2, we believe in the power of connectivity. So, to empower you to connect with the things that matter most to you, we give you up to five days of paid volunteering leave every year to give back to good causes. How you volunteer is up to you – whether it’s micro-volunteering in small chunks, giving back a day at a time, remote or in-person. We’ve even made it easy to connect with good causes, by gathering live volunteering opportunities especially for Team VMO2 below – just scroll down to find your next opportunity to start making real change happen. And if you have a good cause in mind, who aren’t listed below, get them signed up to Neighbourly here: www.neighbourly.com/goodcause/new. It’s free, only takes a few minutes, and allows them to connect with volunteers from Virgin Media O2 as well as other purpose-driven businesses. Our aim is to enable Team VMO2 to support 1 million people through volunteering by 2025 – so every volunteering hour counts!

Virgin Media O2 Together Fund

Virgin Media O2 has launched a £500,000 fund to supercharge hundreds of local charities across the UK as the nation emerges from the pandemic. The “Together Fund” is a nationwide initiative designed to specifically support local charities that champion and celebrate community spirit, belonging and togetherness across the UK. Grants of £1,000 are available for environmental and community belonging projects, inspiring people across the UK to get together and create positive change for the causes they care most about.
