The Soup Kitchen Rochdale

Rochdale, UK

We started the soup kitchen four years ago serving soup from the back of a car outside Rochdale town hall one night a week. Within nine months we had enough volunteers to do this four nights a week and Saturday lunchtimes. We now have our own premises behind Champness Hall in Rochdale, from which we now aim to open a drop in centre seven days a week, serving lunches, soup kitchen in the evenings, providing hot showers, washing machine and drier, computers for applying for jobs and courses and medical services and counselling.

Community Support Centre

Salford, UK

We support members of our community who are facing multiple challenges with the vision of improving their mental health and well-being making them strong together as a community through a weekly session where we Signposts, counseling, having a group support, workshops and training sessions for health and well-being. We will kindly appreciate any support to alleviate the stress on our community members and help them build their self confidence and great social connections, encourage them to have a healthy lifestyle and be more happier. At Community Support Centre , We collect surplus food from local businesses and redistribute it to people facing food insecurity in our community, we work with shelters, food banks and community centers to ensure the food reaches those who need it most. Our goal is to reduce food waste while providing nutritious meals to individuals and families, helping to alleviate hunger and improve the overall wellbeing of those we support.

Coventry Foodbank

Coventry, UK

Last year, Coventry Foodbank collected over 170 tons of food, most of this generously donated by the general public. We gave out over 140 tons of food to those in an emergency. Most of this food is in the form of dried, packet and tinned goods. This type of food is great for clients who have their own cooking and storage facilities. As some of our clients do not have these facilities, we feel it's important to be able to offer foods that don't need preparation or storage. As a foodbank, we are conscious of the fresh food that is going to waste in our city. We would love to access fresh food so that we can supplement the food given out at the foodbank. Coventry Foodbank is a "more than food" foodbank. We currently run advice services at foodbank where clients can access trained advisers from Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB). We have a clothes bank where clients can get pre-loved clothes. We have seventeen centres in the city and are feeding people at the rate of 1300 people each month - 40% of these are children under the age of 16.

giffgaff Neighbourly campaigns

giffgaff gives back

We’re big on giving back at our gaff. In fact giffgaff means ‘mutual giving’. We’re also big on community, so we’ve partnered with the Neighbourly Foundation to give support to grassroots causes. Community is at the heart of everything we do. But community can’t exist without this planet we call home. With the UK named one of the worst offenders when it comes to e-waste* and mobile phones contributing to the problem, we’re on a mission to help reduce e-waste and encourage people to get their old phones back into use. We recognise the important opportunity to give back in supporting those who are tackling this problem. So, in the spirit of mutual giving, we’re proud to partner with the Neighbourly Foundation providing support to grassroots causes via grants based in local communities nationwide.

Stay safe, stay connected

giffgaff and Doro are giving 500 phones with 3 months free connectivity, to vulnerable people affected by the current isolation rules. Together, we hope to help those in need stay safe and connected with their loved ones during these difficult times.

giffgaff emergency fund

The rise in the cost of living is affecting everyone up and down the country, and giffgaffers want to make sure that we are doing all we can to help and give back. Through the giffgaff phone recycling program we have already raised £17,000 and we are continuing to raise more.

giffgaffers give back

giff-staffers have historically done a brilliant job at making a difference to our local community - with afternoon teas, toy collections and gardening days to name just a few of our wonderful and impactful initiatives. As we continue to face challenging times and can’t offer support in our usual ways it’s time for us to reset and make sure that we are giving you all more tangible opportunities to give back.
