One Housing and One Support - Lewisham

London, UK

One Housing aims to give access to affordable housing of high quality for everyone in our community, and especially for those who are struggling to find accommodation. We have housing in 39 areas across London and are constantly looking to expand to more communities in need. One Support works with vulnerable people housed within One Housing - supporting those with differing needs including young people, people with mental health problems and people with substance misuse issues. In our building on Breakspear Road, One Housing and One Support come together via our Young Parents Service, bringing care and support to our young parents and their families in residence. Throughout our organisation we help young people, those with mental health issues or addiction as well as elderly and the homeless. We work hard to create a sense of community and provide spaces for our residents to meet and socialise. We are looking for volunteers to help us with a variety of things. We want to refurbish the communal residents' lounge, which needs painting. We want to make this space feel as comfortable and inviting as possible to ensure that our residents can feel relaxed and at home there. The garden is an important part of the property, and it needs some love and a makeover! We want to create an inviting outdoor space in the back garden where residents can relax, with shrubs, trees and flowers. It would also be lovely to build a raised vegetable patch where our children can plant and tend to vegetables, as well as a herb garden at the front. Finally, we'd like to be able to offer mentoring sessions to our young parents where they can get help with careers, job searching and CVs. This would be incredibly valuable to them, so professional volunteers would be very welcome.

Wilmslow, UK

The area to be used for the new accessible facilities currently contains other items and requires preparation before building commences. Toilets have been designed to be accessible to all - we currently do not have this and a covered area will also be installed making a more suited environment for our rising visitor numbers
