How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Canada Life UK has donated volunteer time, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Energy Champions

Bristol, UK

Our vision is for every neighbourhood in Bristol to have a local person to turn to for energy advice, a person who will champion energy saving in their community. Energy Champions are local people like you from all over Bristol, who are interested in giving advice to their friends, neighbours and community on saving electricity and gas. Energy Champions may also give information on solar panels and other renewable technology. Energy Champions have varying backgrounds and interests. They may know lots or little about energy when they start but all learn lots along the way. They are people interested in knowing more about energy and are united by wanting to help friends, colleagues and neighbours. We will provide all the information, training and support needed for you to become an Energy Champion. What will you be doing? Bristol is full of exciting projects about energy, run by many different organisations and new ones are starting all the time. Once you are an Energy Champion you will be invited to join projects in your area to work with existing groups. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all sorts of interesting activities already underway and perhaps even develop new ideas. You won’t be asked to do anything you’re not confident with and we will provide training and support for all activities. The type of things you could be doing are; ● Taking Thermal Images of homes ● Helping conduct energy efficiency surveys ● Showing people around energy efficient homes ● Learning how to construct solar panels and teaching others ● Conducting small bits of research ● Participating in street parties, local events and tea parties ● Demonstrating new technologies ● Draft busting demonstrations and fitting ● Providing advice and support You can also do your own activities and events. You could do this by; ● Talking to the people you already know in your community ● Putting on an event like a coffee morning ● Having a stall at a school fair ● Setting up an action group

Empower Children to Read with ABC to read - Support Us Today!

Reading, UK

At ABC to read, we’re committed to transforming lives through literacy. For 20 years, we’ve supported children across Berkshire who struggle with reading, pairing them with dedicated volunteer mentors. Currently, 160 volunteers in Berkshire support 500 children twice a week. Through one-to-one mentoring, we help children build confidence, self-esteem, and essential literacy skills. We also empower parents and students through literacy workshops. Volunteers benefit from work experience and the opportunity to give back, while children gain vital skills that help them succeed in school and beyond. With your help, we can recruit 30 more volunteers, supporting 90 additional children, and deliver 10 more workshops. Every donation enables us to continue our life-changing work. Your support can make a difference: £10 funds a book for a child. £250 runs a literacy workshop for parents or students. £700 pays to recruit train and support one volunteer supporting 3 children twice a week Help us spread the joy of reading!
