Claire's Community Pantry

Stoke-on-Trent, UK

Claire’s Community Pantry is a community‑led initiative dedicated to supporting individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardship. Our mission is simple but vital: to make sure people in our local area can access affordable food and essential household items at a time when rising living costs are pushing many into crisis. We believe that everyone deserves dignity, choice, and stability, and our pantry model is designed to offer exactly that. We operate as a low‑cost community pantry where members can choose the items they need most, helping them stretch their budgets and avoid the stress and stigma often associated with emergency food support. By offering a welcoming, friendly environment and a respectful approach, we aim to reduce the pressure on households who are struggling and ensure that no one in our community has to go without the basics. Who We Help Our support is open to anyone facing genuine financial difficulty. This includes: People on low or unstable incomes Families and individuals affected by rising living costs Those dealing with sudden life changes such as illness, job loss, relationship breakdown, or bereavement Parents and carers trying to provide for children on limited budgets Older people and those living alone who may be choosing between heating, eating, or essential household items We work closely with local partners, support organisations, and community groups to ensure that people who need help can access it quickly, easily, and without judgement. What Support We Need Most To keep the pantry running and to continue supporting our community, we rely on donations, partnerships, and volunteer time. The support we need most includes: Surplus food: ambient goods, fresh produce, chilled items, frozen food, bakery items, and long‑life staples Essential household items: toiletries, cleaning products, sanitary items, baby supplies, and other everyday necessities Volunteer help: people who can assist with sorting donations, stocking shelves, greeting visitors, and helping the pantry run smoothly Regular partnerships with local businesses: ongoing surplus collections, sponsored items, or support with logistics Financial contributions: small or large donations that help us purchase staple goods, maintain stock levels, and keep the pantry sustainable Every donation—whether food, funds, or time—directly supports people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. With continued support, we can expand our reach, strengthen our impact, and ensure that no one in our area faces hardship alone. Our Commitment Claire’s Community Pantry is committed to reducing food poverty, preventing waste, and building a stronger, more resilient community. We believe in practical help, kindness, and the power of local people working together. Our pantry is more than a place to access affordable essentials—it is a supportive space where people are welcomed, respected, and reminded that they are not alone.

Rethink mental illness supported housing Cheadle

Stoke-on-Trent, UK

Our tenancy support service provides high quality accommodation and low level housing management support for people affected by mental illness aged 18 years and above, who are at risk of not accessing or sustaining a home because of their mental health, vulnerability and/or a history of housing related problems. We have 16 units of self contained accommodation in Cheadle varying from bedsits, flats and houses. Currently with the cost of living crisis many of our tenants are having to make the decision between heating or eating, we would like to be able to collect surplus supplies from local suppliers so we can provide a warm room for our tenants in the staff office, so tenants can charge any electricals, get warm and we would like to be able to provide them with some food to help them get through the week without them having to make the decision between eating or heating, staff will be volunteering there own time to run this and there would be no charge for the tenants. We currently work with the local food bank and refer tenants when needed but in recent months, tenants are struggling more and more and we are having to refer to the food bank more frequently which is then adding extra pressure on to there service, we currently don't collect any surplus food.

To improve the Health and Well-being of Moorlands District families

Staffordshire Moorlands District, UK

Moorlands Children's Centre is the central hub for delivering early years services throughout the Moorlands District. Our aim is to improve outcomes for young children and their families with a particular focus on the most disadvantaged families, in order to reduce inequalities and improve children's outcomes. We deliver various sessions at the centre and within the local community to ensure families feel supported by professionals and members of their own community. The aim of these groups is to ensure young children get the best start in life and that their families are supported to help them achieve this. Children’s centres are designed to serve the local community. We have a range of community run groups that support families in the community such as, grandparents, children with additional needs, stay and plays, child-minders, parenting program's, twins, breastfeeding..... we are hoping to support these children and their families by offering refreshments which introduce healthy food options to them. The aim of this is to educate and support families to make healthy choices for their children and instilling an ethos of good eating equals healthy lifestyles. This may also lead into identifying additional support we can offer to these families to improve their circumstances and ultimate outcomes.
