G.E.S.H is a voluntary organisation which has been running in the heart of the East End of Glasgow for over 40 years. We offer a positive hub of community, friendship & care to over 600 members, particularly those with mental & physical disabilities. G.E.S.H can also be used to provide training, social & recreational services for everyone. People around the Greater Easterhouse / Garthamlock area use the centre on a weekly basis as a thriving social club and as an entertainment and activity venue. You can also hire G.E.S.H for functions and private events. We are proud to provide our members with meal services, including a Wednesday lunch club, a tasty canteen and affordable catering for your community event. The centre is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm & then from 6pm-10pm. Opening times over the weekend may alternate & can be flexible & negotiable. Premises are wheelchair friendly.

Parkhill Secondary School is an Additional Support Needs school in the East End of Glasgow. We have about 100 pupils on the school roll, over 70% of them are from SIMD areas 1-3 and therefore not only have an additional support need but are also affected by multiple deprivation. 70% are entitled to Free School Meals, the national average is 35%. So we are way above the national average. Over 20% of our pupils are care experienced, which means they might live in a foster environment, with a relative or this might have happened in the past. This means they might not live with their mum or dad and will have some form of social work intervention. Over 50% of our pupils are on the autistic spectrum, from those who are non-verbal and who are in our Complex Needs class – to some young people who are able to achieve National 5 and Highers in specifics subjects. In fact we have a very wide range of qualifications that are offered too from national 1 to Highers. Since joining Neighbourly we have been receiving generous donations that help us to support our school. Sometimes we get spare clothes and toys that we use for the children in school that need an extra pair of shoes or socks or a jacket. Other times we get with our donations some books or toys great for our more complex classes that can use them to learn by playing. All these donations are very important and we are super grateful for them.

I work with young homeless people (and threatened with homelessness)within East Dunbartonshire. We are reaching out to companies to ask if they could offer any donations which we may be able to offer to our young people. Some of our young people are sofa surfing, and have no home of their own. Our young people are really struggling this year. So we have decided to run another Christmas Gift appeal. If there's anything you think you could donate, i.e toiletries, hats, scarfs, shower gel sets, hot water bottles, blankets, dry cupboard staples. We will add these in to gift bags. We are aiming to give out as many gift bags as possible. Last year we managed over 30 bags. So we aim to match, if not beat this target.
