How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Y Plant Affricanaidd Community Interest Company

Cwmbran, UK

Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC is a community-focused organisation committed to supporting BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) communities, particularly African families, in Newport and across Wales. Our mission is to promote inclusion, empower individuals, and bridge gaps in access to vital resources. We operate from Vincent House, 13 Lowlands Road, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, NP44 1RF, and our work extends across multiple regions, including Newport, Torfaen, RCT Council, the Vale of Glamorgan, and Aberystwyth. Through our initiatives, we address challenges such as social exclusion, financial hardships, food insecurity, and cultural barriers, creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. Our Services We provide a wide range of free, culturally sensitive services, including: 1. Child Protection Awareness Programmes tailored to BAME families. 2. Parenting Classes offering practical, culturally relevant guidance. 3. Cultural Competency Training to foster community understanding and integration. 4. Support for unpaid carers, helping them access resources and emotional support. 5. Mentorship and empowerment programmes for young people from BAME communities. 6. Community Engagement Activities such as workshops, seminars, and events that reduce isolation and promote cohesion. 7. Advocacy for vulnerable African workers, ensuring they receive fair treatment and access to necessary resources. The Warm Hub Programme This winter (January – March 2025), we are introducing our Warm Hub Programme, designed to support vulnerable families affected by rising energy costs, food insecurity, and isolation. Hosted weekly at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Vineyard Chapel, Mountjoy Street, Newport, NP20 2FA, Warmth and a welcoming space. Culturally diverse meals and refreshments. Access to practical support, including financial guidance, health workshops, and peer support opportunities. We identify service users through referrals from local organisations, schools, healthcare providers, and places of worship, as well as direct outreach efforts. Their needs are assessed through consultations and socio-economic data to ensure tailored support. How You Can Help To make this vision a reality, we are seeking partnerships and donations, particularly weekly contributions of food, snacks, and refreshments, including culturally appropriate options. Your support will directly impact the lives of families in need, providing comfort, connection, and hope during the most challenging months of the year. Our Community Impact Our work has been recognised by local organisations such as GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations) and RCT Interlink, where we are registered. We have also partnered with other community groups and churches, and our activities have been highlighted in local reports. Together, we can build a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered. We invite you to join us in making a meaningful and lasting impact.

SWAN UK (syndromes without a name)

Blackwood, UK

SWAN UK (syndromes without a name) is the only dedicated support network available for families of children and young adults with undiagnosed genetic conditions in the UK. It is run by the charity Genetic Alliance UK. It is estimated that around 6,000 disabled children are born every year with a genetic condition likely to remain undiagnosed. Without a diagnosis families have no idea what the future will hold for their child. Will they walk? Will they talk? How long are they likely to live? Families struggle to have their needs taken seriously and access the services and support that they vitally need. Many feel extremely isolated and alone. SWAN UK supports families in hospital and at home offering 24/7 access to support and information. We run regular events to bring families together and provide opportunities to make precious memories. We support siblings to make new friends who understand how difficult having an undiagnosed brother or sister can be. We educate professionals about the issues faced by families affected by a syndrome without a name to help families receive high-quality coordinated care and appropriate testing or treatment. Our Big Ambition is that all families who have a child affected by a syndrome without a name get the support they need, when they need it. We know there are so many families out there who still need our support, which is why we are aiming to double our membership and help families feel less isolated and alone.
