How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Village Centre Community Fridge & Kitchen

Egham, UK

Following the pandemic and recent lockdowns, the need for and demand on Food Banks and their services have been particularly highlighted. At the Village Centre in Englefield Green we offer many services and Outreach Programmes for the community however the new project for 2021 is our Community Fridge & Kitchen. We have renewed our relationship with the Runnymede Foodbank and we are a collection point for Englefield Green residents. As well as this we will be providing vouchers for users of the Food Bank , which will enable individuals or families to come to our Cafe for a complimentary hot meal. Our Community Kitchen & Fridge, through the Community Fridge Network (Hubbub) will be providing fresh food and produce to the local community. A team of volunteers will be involved in collecting surplus perishable food from local businesses and suppliers, that will then be made available to those in our community who need it. A successful Community Fridge will cut food waste, build stronger bonds within the community and provide people with nutritious, perishable food items and meals. The back of our building will be provided to house the Community Fridges & Freezers and will be accessible to the local community to come and collect fresh food items. Our volunteers will also be using the fresh produce collected to cook homemade meals that will be available to families in need through local schools, the elderly via local sheltered housing and Foodbank users. Our project will grow over time and we look forward to helping more individuals in need, at the same time playing our part in reducing food waste!
