YMCA East Surrey provides opportunities for people to develop to their full potential with a focus on the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Our services include supported housing, health and wellbeing, youth work, counselling and children’s playschemes. Our work focuses on disadvantaged groups, for example homeless young people and people with disabilities, and we operate in the most deprived communities of east Surrey, including Horley, Merstham, Tadworth and Redhill. We have 17 years of experience of providing accommodation and 24 hour support for young homeless people, including advice on training and employment as well as support for issues they face, such as surviving domestic abuse and mental health problems. Our housing includes a hostel in Redhill with 44 bedsits for young homeless and three 'Move On' houses in Redhill, Merstham and Horley providing 25 bedrooms in shared accommodation for young homeless people with lower support needs. In addition our Next Step rent deposit scheme offers support to individuals and families in housing need to find long term tenancies with private landlords, including a deposit guarantee scheme when they don't have savings for a deposit. Our health and wellbeing services revolve around our Sports Centre in Redill, where we have a gym and fitness classes. We focus particularly on people with health conditions and disabilities, with an Exercise Referral programme that offers classes for specific conditions such as cardiac and stroke, and a variety of disability sports. We have two pre-schools, in Reigate and Merstham, and also offer children's after school, holiday and recreational playschemes, including specialist schemes for children with disabilities. And we provide youth clubs targeting the poorest areas as well as mental health counselling and other support to young people aged up to 25. In 2021/22 we supported around 13,000 local people, including over 3,800 with additional needs of some sort.

Renewed Hope provides practical solutions and emotional support to the homeless and vulnerable of East Surrey. We create life-changing opportunities by offering welfare and signposting services, working closely in partnership with local support services such as domestic violence workers, substance abuse teams and outreach services. Volunteers and staff create a safe and welcoming community for an increasing number of guests. We run a Drop-In all year round, open weekdays 10am- 4pm and 12-1.30pm weekends: We give out hot meals, food-bank tokens & clothing. Staff and volunteers foster positive relationships with guests through listening, empathising and offering guidance. In non-Covid times, we open the East Surrey Winter Night Shelter Dec to Mar every year with 10+ beds a night. This rotates around 16 venues and is staffed by 250+ volunteers, providing transport, hot meals and a safe, warm place to sleep. We assist our guests in finding accommodation by working closely with the local councils. Everything we do is about offering opportunity and possibility to those who are struggling with day to day life. We work with our local councils, foodbanks and other organisations to help ensure that all needs are met.
