The Centre Project

Leicester, UK

At The Centre Project, we recognise that all human beings face hardships from time to time. During these hard times, we may need someone to turn to, or to be around people in a similar situation. That can be in the form of talking to someone, catching up with friends, or sharing a home-cooked meal. The Centre Project offers: - a warm and friendly day centre for social interaction and activities - befriending, emotional support, pastoral care - practical support and signposting - volunteering opportunities - support in accessing universal services, such as benefits advice, housing, etc. - preparation for employment through our CAP Job Club - parish nursing: someone to talk about any health-related concerns and support - counselling: personal counselling and support - affordable home-cooked meals and refreshments We will support you in gaining a sense of belonging, increasing your confidence, meeting new people, finding out information about other services, having fun and enjoying a hearty meal! We believe that everyone needs love, peace, hope, care, laughter and a sense of purpose and belonging. This helps us stay healthy and gives us a sense of wellbeing.

Christ the King Food Bank

Leicester, UK

We seek to provide for the needs of those who do not have the luxury/ability to provide basics for their own daily living. Whilst most of what we receive and give is food, both ambient, chilled and fresh, there is a great need for our provision to also include toiletries, basic hygiene products as well as laundry products. A high proportion of our referrals are families with children; this may well be a product of the location of the food bank. In many cases their homes only provide very limited cooking facilities, therefore the desire for prepared foods is great. The food bank operates on a donations only basis - all food which is given out is donated by church atttenders, local people and local businesses including supermarkets and fast food outlets. We are very greatful for the generosity of those around us, and indeed, none of this would be possible without that. That said, there are often higher proportions of need than we are able to meet. The food bank is run solely by volunteers, therefore our costs may be lower than many organisations.
