KANON.foodshare: Fighting Food Waste, Poverty, and Hunger About Us: KANON.foodshare is a charitable organization founded by RAF Hrabal, who has been living in the Copnor/Hilsea area since 2004. The organisation was started in year 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, to support the local community by sharing surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. KANON.foodshare operates as a small, not-for-profit social enterprise focused on tackling food waste and economic poverty at a local level. It is also the most neighbourly-friendly organization in the city, operating and welcoming guests from the comfort of a private home. Mission & Vision: KANON.foodshare's mission is to tackle food waste, fight poverty and hunger, and help build stable, resilient, and thriving communities based on neighbourly cooperation and mutual support. The organisation collects surplus food from local food businesses and redistributes it among individual customers and other charitable organizations. Our vision and main goals are: • Tackling food waste, poverty, and hunger: The organisation aims to counteract food waste and address food and economic poverty. • Helping people, communities, environment, and our planet: KANON.foodshare is dedicated to supporting individuals and communities while also caring for the environment. • Spreading kindness and positivity throughout the city: The organisation promotes kindness and positivity within the community. • Nourishing people's body, mind, spirit, and soul: KANON.foodshare focuses on holistic nourishment. • Promoting so-called “FOODWASTE” as a “delicious way of saving money, helping to feed the world and protect the planet.” • Promoting love of nature and being grounded in it: The organisation encourages a connection with nature. • Inspiring you to love your neighbours and community: KANON.foodshare aims to foster a sense of community and neighbourly love. • SYMBIOSIS: taking this best example of cooperation and mutually beneficial support in nature, we promote it among people to strengthen interpersonal and social/community bonds. Awards and Recognition: KANON.foodshare is a member of the Portsmouth Food Support Network chaired by the Council’s Tackling Poverty Strategic Coordinator and has been recognised for its efforts in combating food waste and supporting the community. The organisation has received the PEACE AWARD from The Peace Centre and the FREEDOM of the City of Portsmouth by the Lord Mayor for their sterling efforts in carrying on regardless right through the Covid-19 Health Crisis! We aim to target immediate needs and issues surrounding homelessness and addiction for those in need in Southsea and Portsmouth. Many in our city are facing desperate situations, but whatever the circumstances, our aim is to show that there is a way out. We plan to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to improve their situation through the variety of services we offer. We are run by a not for profit charity run by a Manager, Trustees and a wonderful, enthusiastic team of volunteers. We hope we are working to help make Southsea an even more pleasant, safe place to live. The LifeHouse is a practical resource and support centre for those in need living in Portsmouth and Southsea. We have experienced, like-minded, volunteers developing the LifeHouse in providing Sign-Posting Services to vulnerable men and women and targeting issues of homelessness and addiction locally. We aim to create an environment of compassion and care, where people feel they belong, are accepted; and where they can build a sense of self-worth and confidence – a place where we can be generous with our time, energy and practical resources; where we can go the extra mile.

UKHarvest is a leading environmental and social impact charity dedicated to preventing food waste and food insecurity. By enriching and educating our communities we help nurture those most food insecure, to live well, age well and to help combat social isolation. From our food rescue operation to our education programmes, to our award winning Nourish Hub, every initiative we offer brings people together for the most meaningful impact. We collect perishable food from places like supermarkets, hotels, wholesalers, farmers, stadiums, catering companies, shopping centres, cafes and more, delivering it for free to charities and individuals throughout the UK. We use the food as a medium to engage communities and teach people to reduce household food waste so everyone can join our mission!
