How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Community Carrot - Sunny's Kitchen

Dunbar, UK

A community meal that welcomes anyone and everyone to come and join us for a healthy plate of good food, great company and fine blether!! Bringing the community together. We also offer any fresh produce that is extra to our requirements, that can be taken at the end of the meal like a "mini foodbank" system. We have started to batch cook and freeze off portions that can be taken on a weekly basis, this also reduces any waste with excess produce. Sunny's kitchen meal is a free service.

The Lammermuir Larder

Haddington, UK

The Lammermuir Larder Group is a local community food initiative based in Haddington, East Lothian. Established in 2021, our goal is to build a more resilient community through addressing the inequalities in our local area. Originally a constituted group, we became a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Organisation in May 2025. Our emergency food provision together with our advocacy service are a lifeline for people in crisis, providing a holistic approach to support those in challenging situations. Our Community Shop is designed to support those on low incomes helping them to stretch their food budgets whilst at the same time alleviating food waste. Our Let’s Cook initiative provides free cookery classes designed to teach participants on limited incomes how to prepare nutritious, low-cost meals. By addressing the root causes of food insecurity and providing tailored support, we help individuals and families get back on their feet and build a more sustainable future. We couldn't do what we do without our team of dedicated volunteers. They bring a huge amount of life experience and skills to the Larder ensuring our clients are always treated with dignity and respect.
