ALDI MALMESBURY - CRUDWELL RD

We are a large volunteer based Charity operating across the Wiltshire area. Our volunteers use donated food to share with local families, individuals and organisations who are most in need. We are currently under pressure to meet the increasing need to help people who cannot afford food, whilst also experiencing a big decrease in the amount of food we receive due to less available food and many more people buying food from the reduced price sections. If you are a business with surplus food, would like to make a donation, volunteer or are in need of some food, please contact us.

Local volunteers as both adult (19+) and junior (11-19) street representatives. Adult street reps are area specific eg, Penhill, Pinehurst, Railway village, Toothill, Stratton and Chiseldon, we are the Penhill branch. Junior reps are Swindon wide. we can be found on facebook just look for swindon street reps. Reps get involved with a wide variety of volunteering ventures, there are four 'free café' in swindon run by the swindon reps, at these venues you can get a free brew and accompaniment, talk to a local borough officer, join a credit union, and/or collect food items donated from fare share to those that require this service. Due to the pandemic this has gone digital and two days a week this online café is open. Reps also hold 'playing out' sessions (www.playingout.net) locally and provide the play equipment for use and marshal these events. reps also undertake local green space projects. Reps run a junior rep project and youth club. Reps hold estate fun and information days such as the Eden big lunch. Reps regularly litter pick and clean road signs. Reps are an information resource locally for residents. Reps are helping to operate a local foodbank on penhill. Reps do and are so much more than the list here. Reps are your neighbours, friends and family.

The Community Fridge is located at back of the Town Council offices and is project driven by the collective efforts of local residents, volunteers and businesses with the aim of reducing food waste and empowering communities. The Community Fridge operates on the principle of 'take what you need, leave what you can'. The vision is NO edible food goes to waste. Local businesses (such as bakeries and supermarkets) and residents donate surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. Once the food is placed in the fridge, it is available to anyone to take and free of charge. By upholding the highest food hygiene standards and having a strict policy on low-risk food items, we can provide assurances to both the businesses donating, and visitors of the fridge sharing food. We would love to work and create local connections with food growers, manufacturers and retailers who, by sharing quality excess food, not only reduce wasted food and disposal costs, but directly support their local community.
