How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Shrewsbury Food Hub

Shrewsbury, UK

Our vision is a community where food is valued, not wasted. Our mission is to redistribute food and promote food waste reduction for environmental and social good. Since April 2016, we have collected good surplus food from supermarkets, manufacturers and farms and shared it with local charities and community groups, saving them money so they can do more. Our community partners support the homeless, the old, the vulnerable and those on low incomes. We also support community Foodshare Tables and Fridges where everyone is welcome to collect a few bags of food to help stop food waste and stretch household budgets. Any donation you can make will enable us to train new volunteers, pay for fuel for our charity van, buy in additional surplus from FareShare to supplement the food we collect to nourish our community. Please contact Tammy at tammy@shrewsburyfoodhub.org.uk if you would like more information or would like to get involved. The Food Hub is a registered charity 1171092.

Whitchurch and Wem Food Hubs

Whitchurch, UK

The Whitchurch Food Hub is being run by Simon Tooth (pictured) of Big Red;'s House who also runs Cliffords House Cafe and a Community Fridge. The Wem Food Hub is being run by volunteers and currently only collects on a Sunday. They take food to the Wem Town Hall charity's cafe , Wem Good Neighbours and Scouts and Guides. Both Food hubs are being supported by Shrewsbury Food Hub. SFH collects surplus food from supermarkets and delivers it to charities and groups in Shrewsbury that feed people as part of their daily work, saving them money. Since we started in April 2016 we have redistributed 9 tonnes or 21,000 meals equivalent of surplus food to groups in our town, saving them about £8,000. Our fantastic volunteers get food to more than 30 groups across town, including The Severn Hospice, The Ark, Food Bank Plus, Age UK, Shropshire Mind and ten school breakfast clubs including Meole Brace Primary, The Grange and Harlescott Juniors.
