MAGIC were very lucky to receive the generous support from the M&S staff at the Hempstead Valley shopping centre! Staff from the Gillingham store did a whole range of events to raise funds, including a cake sale, a book sale, a 'discounted damaged goods sale' to staff, sold MAGIC wristbands to their customers and put MAGIC collection tins around the shop. They raised an amazing £2,768 for MAGIC and the stores representatives, Adam and Kerry, visited the centre to hand us the cheque! They also delivered a lovely strawberry plant for the children to grow! MAGIC were also delighted to welcome M&S staff to our 2015 'Family fun day' were they had already collected a range of 'bric-a-brac' to sell on the day to raise more funds for us. Volunteers were pleased to come back to this fun day having been involved with this event in 2014! As MAGIC has now moved into our new headquarters at Cliffe Wood, M&S volunteers volunteered many hours to help us tidy the garden and make the centre a suitable and welcoming place for our children. Kerry, who is our main contact at M&S also asked her father, who works for KMPG UK Ltd, to donate an 8 foot bear that he found whilst clearing out offices! We named this bear MAC who now looks after the front entrance of our centre. Kerry's father also donated some tables and chairs that he found discarded when clearing out an office! We are now using these tables in our café area where the children can sit in comfy chairs and eat their lunch. Everyone at MAGIC would like to say a huge 'THANKS!' to everyone at Marks and Spencer's for their time and efforts in helping MAGIC to support families living with autism in the Medway area.
