Supporting families across the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas since March 2018 to reduce costs and save money, reduce waste and the amount that goes to landfill and finally, create a stronger community spirit. At Mamas Bristol, we believe in the power of community and collective action to create positive change. Our ethos is rooted in a multiple pronged approach; affordability, sustainability, and inclusivity across the community. By fostering connections and building relationships, we create a support network where families can find solidarity, encouragement, and inspiration. We are more than just a Facebook group, an organisation or any one person - we are a movement. A movement dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families, our communities, and the world we share.

We are a Local Authority Maintained Nursery School, based across two sites in St Philips Marsh and Barton Hill, Bristol. We provide high quality early years education for children aged 2-5 years. Our values put children and their families at the heart of all we do, with a strong focus on supporting health and wellbeing. We promote healthy eating at our breakfast club and snack times, introducing children to a diverse range of foods. Previously we relied on parent donations of food, however many our families live on low incomes and are now unable to provide these. We now rely on surplus food donations to help supplement our snack times and to provide a free community larder for our families in need of food support. Many of our families live in cramped flats and temporary accommodation, with limited access to play and exercise in safe, inviting indoor and outdoor areas. Therefore, our nursery buildings and gardens are vital to the health, wellbeing and physical development of our children. We are always keen to receive donations of surplus plants, garden items & furniture, tools, interior and exterior decoration items and DIY items. We are also keen for donations of furniture (including used ex-office items) for use in our family support spaces, eg meeting tables & chairs, sofas, soft furnishings, etc.

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) provide the critical care and air ambulance service for 2.1 million people across the counties of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and surrounding areas. Our crew attend the most critical incidents across the region by helicopter or by one of our two critical care cars. When someone is seriously ill or injured time is of the essence, and they need expert help fast. This is where we come in. The GWAAC Critical Care Team consists of a highly trained and experienced Pilot, a Specialist Paramedic in Critical Care and a Critical Care Doctor. From emergency blood transfusions to roadside amputations or treating cardiac arrests, our crew specialise in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine and Trauma Medicine, bringing the skills and expertise of an Emergency Department to the patient. In 2024, we received a total of 2,272 call-outs to people in urgent need across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire. As a charity we need to raise over £6 million each year to stay operational, but receive no day to day funding from the Government or National Lottery. This means we rely on the generosity of our donors and supporters to keep flying.
