The Co-operative Food - Gosport, Palmyra Road

We are a scout group based in the middle of Elson (Gosport) engaging young people from 5-14 1/2 years old and helping them to develop skills for life. Our development work also includes the adults that help as well through training and opportunities they would not usually be able to take part in. Our group prides itself on trying to be inclusive and we have done very rewarding work on this in the last 10 years across our sections. The whole scouting movement is always changing but one of the biggest parts is to be youth led, giving them more responsibility and input/control in what we do. Some of our many aims are to educate across a wide spectrum complimenting school and family, filling needs not met by either. Through fun with a purpose we help the young people develop physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. We build confidence and self esteem through leadership, team building skills and outdoor adventure. Between our group and the whole national or even international scouting movement there is a vast array of opportunities open for any member to try. With the help of our many adult members who are all volunteers, covering a very wide range of duties from looking after the stores, accounting, fundraising, PR, paper work, regularly or occasionally helping with the children and much more. They get the great chance to help build a better world by helping the young people grow and become better people. A full training scheme is in place to help any adult grow their own skills and rise to the challenge.
