How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Cadent has donated money and volunteer time, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

HOPE Coventry

Coventry, UK

We build partnerships in Coventry communities, giving hope where it has been lost. Our projects include Good Neighbours Coventry - helping elderly people find friendship and support, Christians Against Poverty - assisting people out of debt. Volunteers are needed to: *Be carefully matched (by shared interests) in friendship to a nearby housebound older person for weekly or fortnightly tea & chat (30-60 mins). Dogs & children welcome to join in. *Assist with running older people's support groups (fortnightly commitment of 2 hours) *Support administrative tasks, such as updating contact & timing details for local social groups (one-off full day, or ongoing monthly/fortnightly/weekly - individually or in groups of up to 4) *Provide one-off garden weeding/improvement in a corporate group for vulnerable disabled people in poverty Our principal activities are: Operating a befriending service and support groups for around 750 vulnerable and isolated older people (Good Neighbours Coventry) annually, with the support of hundreds of trained befriending volunteers from all backgrounds. Referrals for new clients primarily come from GP surgeries & social services. We assess their needs through holistic home assessment visits, creating a person-centred action plan. This support is free. We also signpost around 7150 older people each year to 720+ community groups we have mapped, maintained an up-to-date database & dementia-friendly printed versions of Activity Guides. Within Good Neighbours Coventry, we run 5 support groups (two for people living with memory loss and their carers; three for older men struggling with their mental health). These run out of local churches, in locations we have trialled as filling a provision gap in the city. Operating Coventry Debt Centre (a branch of CAP: Christians Against Poverty) - supporting people from all backgrounds to become free from debt & manage their money better, improving their mental health and relationships. Referrals for new clients primarily come from GP surgeries & self-referrals. We assess their needs through holistic home assessment visits, creating a person-centred action plan. This year, our CAP team supported 39 regular clients (households) across Coventry, helping an additional 146 clients through one-off drop-ins at Foodbanks & community centres. Providing a listening ear to passers-by (and prayer on request) in the city, including for healing and life circumstances. Fortnightly newsletters containing training, events, funding and local vacancy information relating to social action. Signposting the public & professionals e.g. to food. Free training for individuals & orgs on e.g. mental health. Linking local leaders, facilitating twice-yearly conferences. Facilitating local ‘No More Knives’ schools tours. We have an office in Binley; most of our work is in homes. We are a Christian charity which supports people from all faiths & backgrounds, via diverse volunteers. Our work is for everyone.
