ALDI BASINGSTOKE - WINKLEBURY WAY

CFL collects all surplus food from supermarkets in Basingstoke and redistributes it into the local community via a series of 35+ Hubs. These Hubs are in schools, nurserys, community centres, churches, vulnerable housing communities and youth clubs. We disribute the food freely to around 3000 people per week. Our whole team of over 80 volunteers enable collections 7 days a week. Our aims are To reduce food waste To reduce food poverty To build community relationships. Our current greatest need is to fund the purchase and wrapping of a second refridgerated delivery van following the demise of our previous elderly vehicle which had around 250000 miles on its clock.

Alton Community Cupboard is a community project set up to reduce waste. Local volunteers collect surplus food (and other surplus goods) from supermarkets, allotments and peoples' fridges and make it available to anyone and everyone from the local area. Alton Community Cupboard does not charge for the food and surplus goods that we distribute but small voluntary donations of £2 are accepted for higher value items to contribute to running costs. Alton Community Cupboard makes the food and surplus goods available to anyone in the community that can benefit from these. The shop opens 6 days per week and there are a core of customers who attend every week or more frequently as well as others who attend from time to time. Inspero's aim is to empower and support young people and their families to lead healthy lifestyles by learning about food, and the integral role it plays in their lives. Inspero provides a range of free and affordable services including cooking and healthy eating classes, food growing and gardening, Forest School for children, adult Green Therapy classes and a gardening service for older people. Additionally we build community gardens for areas of the community eg. Noah's Ark children’s Nursery, Women's Refuge and create edible gardens and deliver horticulture projects for local schools. We work with a range of organisations including BCoT, Buckskin Community Centre, Popley Fields Community Centre, Kempshott Hall Trustees, Sovereign Housing, Dove House School, Park View School, Sainsbury's and a range of corporates eg.Fujitsu. Our work is primarily for the advancement of education and community development, helping people to lead healthier lifestyles, prevent diseases and enhance overall well-being and quality of life.
