ALDI WOKINGHAM

We are a volunteer led and run community service set up as a consequence of Covid-19 supporting the local community with fresh food and other items which would ordinarily be wasted. We ask for a £1 donation for the items we offer and we are open to anyone who can come along to us, no referral needed. SHARE Wokingham is a locally founded food sharing charity (registered number 1195620) with 15 sites in Wokingham and surrounding areas. Each week SHARE helps over 2000 people in our local community who need support foodwise by redistributing an incredible 40 tonnes of food from local supermarkets and food suppliers that would otherwise go to waste. No referral is required. Our food sharing is for anyone who feels they could do with some help – even if just temporarily. Everyone is welcome. No questions are asked. You will just find friendly faces and plenty of fresh produce.

Food Rescue Group, Uxbridge takes a practical, community-led approach to tackling food waste and promoting sustainable living across the town. As communities face growing challenges from climate change, dwindling resources, and ecological disruption, this initiative is both urgent and essential. A core focus of our work is addressing food waste, a major issue that leads to the unnecessary loss of valuable resources and contributes significantly to methane emissions from landfill. Tackling this challenge is both an environmental necessity and a moral responsibility, as redistributing surplus food can provide vital support to local families and individuals. We work closely with local producers and retailers to ensure surplus food is put to good use rather than wasted. These partnerships help businesses reduce disposal costs while delivering measurable environmental benefits for the wider community. The initiative is powered by dedicated local volunteers, including community members and university students, who collect and redistribute surplus food shortly after it becomes available. This rapid turnaround helps maintain freshness, removes the need for storage, and supports the highest standards of food safety and quality. Every item is carefully inspected, and any unsuitable food is disposed of responsibly to minimise environmental impact. Pickup and distribution in Uxbridge are coordinated by Richard Purpura and Norberto Natividad, who work closely with the volunteer network to ensure collections run smoothly and deliveries reach those who need them most. Their hands-on leadership keeps operations efficient, responsive, and firmly community-focused. Coordination is managed through a dedicated WhatsApp group, providing real-time updates on collection schedules, locations, and available quantities. This efficient communication enables quick responses and effective day-to-day operations. By launching this initiative in Uxbridge, the Food Rescue Group is diverting significant quantities of food from landfill, reducing methane emissions, conserving valuable resources, and strengthening community connections. As the group continues to refine its approach and expand local engagement, it is making meaningful progress towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. we are looking to deliver surplus food to single parent families in Bracknell and Camberley We have been successfully doing this since covid and still going, we also do Easter and Christmas What premises does your project operate from? We do not have a premises in Bracknell, we are a taxi service so pick up the food and deliver it straight to oujr service uses. We have a head office in Barnsley. How do you identify service users and their needs? We have referral forms for users to complete and we have over 50,000 members over our social pages and get feedback of what is needed. Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? Yes a lot, I have attached a flyer Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? ALL our services are free Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? yes co-ops direct and we use fareshare. Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Not for Bracknell recently I dont think but will check. Would it be possible to provide photographs of work that your organisation does in the local community? Yes these can be provided and I will get back into thanking stores with pictures when we collect but when we are low on volunteers it is hard to do it all. Ypu can see we are collecting as I have had complaints via the volunteers with stores. I can send you our current list for Bracknell referrals?
