Since 2000 Soul Food has been serving the homeless and vulnerably housed with hot, nutritious food week after week, free of charge and in an atmosphere free of judgment. The most marginalised and overlooked members of our community find welcome and compassion when they walk through the door of a Soul Food session. Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5.30pm and Thursday and Friday mornings at 9.30am a team of wonderful volunteers serve what for many has been a lifeline. On Tuesday evenings our van does a a free food drop at the former Council office car park at 5pm. Soul Food itself became homeless in 2019 when the Prayerhouse building was destroyed in an arson attack. We know firsthand what it feels like to be dependant on the goodwill of someone else for our very survival. Weymouth Family Church generously lend us their building, Bethany Hall from which to operate Soul Food each week. The Nest was set up to provide support for people in our community, particularly by giving people in need access to healthy and affordable food. We also offer volunteering opportunities to members of our community who are long-term unemployed, or who have suffered serious mental health issues, to help them get back on their feet. We aim to help people facing poverty of resources, identity and relationships. We run a cafe on our Westham site to enable people to meet, make new friends and enjoy good quality meals at an unbelievably good price. Our main aims are tackling hunger within Weymouth, reducing food waste and aiding members of our community in improving their skills and employability.

Foodbank serving the people of Chickerell and Southill in Weymouth Dorset. Operating from the football hut lower way Chickerell every Wednesday. We also offer delivery for those unable to access our premises We have been operating since November 2019 Recently we are seeing numbers increasing and donations decreasing as we all feel the effects of this cost of living crisis. We also provide a warm space from October to April which morphs into a cool space from May to September providing free hot refreshments, a place to talk and share experiences. We also can signpost and connect people to CAP, Citizens Advice Housing etc Due to the increase of pensioners using our service we provide a hot roast dinner with pudding and tea/coffee and biscuits in the community room at Marshallsay Court every month from September to June.
