A small Social enterprise, non for profit, community hub & food bank. With support agencies and community feeds on a Tuesday available to everyone. Donations are always welcomed to go towards the collection of the food. Distributor of surplus foods which we collect once a week and is displayed in a community fridge at the front of the cafe for all to share. Cafe, youth club, bingo. Veterans support on Sundays from 12pm Additional activities throughout the year based on seasons eg.. Easter egg hunt and Easter disco. All in our little premises on Elm Drive Ty-Sign everyone is welcome to join us and we will always make room for anyone to join us for a cuppa tea, no matter how busy we look.

We are Community Volunteers Wales, a volunteer-run, registered charity in South Wales, committed to creating empowered and robust self-sufficient communities. Founded at the start of lockdown in March 2020 we sought to help those forgotten and overlooked. What started as collecting shopping and vital medication for those totally isolated by the pandemic has developed into over 200 volunteers striving for a collective impact within the community. Our mission is to create robust self-sufficient communities that have kindness and connection at the very heart. We make over 170 kindness calls in our community every week to help combat loneliness. Combating the loneliness that contributes to poor mental health we work tirelessly to connect people. Every week we have clubs and scheduled meet-ups so that those who feel alone have an opportunity to make meaningful friendships. We believe in bringing people together to support each other and build strong, lasting bonds which is why we run a coffee shop in the heart of Risca. We believe no-one in our community should suffer the side effects of poverty or isolation. Through our We Share mentality we founded Tin on a Wall to help food banks deal with unprecedented demand. We operate a Community Pantry, The Pantri based in Risca which gives members the chance to secure baskets of food for just £4. We also run a Uniform Recycle scheme to help parents offset the costs of growth spurts and back to school. Everything we do looks to redirect waste from landfill and put good quality useable items into the hands of people who need them.

Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC is a community-focused organisation committed to supporting BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) communities, particularly African families, in Newport and across Wales. Our mission is to promote inclusion, empower individuals, and bridge gaps in access to vital resources. We operate from Vincent House, 13 Lowlands Road, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, NP44 1RF, and our work extends across multiple regions, including Newport, Torfaen, RCT Council, the Vale of Glamorgan, and Aberystwyth. Through our initiatives, we address challenges such as social exclusion, financial hardships, food insecurity, and cultural barriers, creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. Our Services We provide a wide range of free, culturally sensitive services, including: 1. Child Protection Awareness Programmes tailored to BAME families. 2. Parenting Classes offering practical, culturally relevant guidance. 3. Cultural Competency Training to foster community understanding and integration. 4. Support for unpaid carers, helping them access resources and emotional support. 5. Mentorship and empowerment programmes for young people from BAME communities. 6. Community Engagement Activities such as workshops, seminars, and events that reduce isolation and promote cohesion. 7. Advocacy for vulnerable African workers, ensuring they receive fair treatment and access to necessary resources. The Warm Hub Programme This winter (January – March 2025), we are introducing our Warm Hub Programme, designed to support vulnerable families affected by rising energy costs, food insecurity, and isolation. Hosted weekly at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Vineyard Chapel, Mountjoy Street, Newport, NP20 2FA, Warmth and a welcoming space. Culturally diverse meals and refreshments. Access to practical support, including financial guidance, health workshops, and peer support opportunities. We identify service users through referrals from local organisations, schools, healthcare providers, and places of worship, as well as direct outreach efforts. Their needs are assessed through consultations and socio-economic data to ensure tailored support.
