We befriend people to relieve isolation and loneliness while informing of opportunities around them, supporting them to achieve potentials by improving skills already possessed through volunteering/ work experience and placements and or providing new skills for life chances and sustainability. Based in a rented shop unit in Grahame Park Estate, 7 The Concourse, NW9 5XB, used as a Church meeting place on Sundays, we provide Youth Club on Thursday and Friday evenings, warm space in cold weather and cool space in warm weather and provide health & wellbeing activities for people aged 55+. We offer seasonal parenting programme to strengthen families and our community. We provide daily good surplus food redistribution to relieve food hunger and to prevent wastage towards Net Zero 2050, and weekly food bank with fitness exercises, and monthly nutrition advice session with social prescribing. We offer advice and referrals as needed. We provide employment skills training towards self-sustainability. We also provide financial support funded by Acts 435 and household support fund in collaboration with BOOST of Barnet Group. Kingsbury Community Group was formed to offer help and support to our local community. We started our group just over 4 years ago starting with a Facebook page called what’s happening in Kingsbury Queensbury Edgware and surrounding areas . We now have 24.000 +members During lockdown we visited many vulnerable families and elderly residents living alone. Doing shopping for some picking up prescriptions and providing food parcels for others. We also work with other organisations such as. Brent council and our local safer neighbourhood team to help those in need of food , clothing or furniture items or a little home maintenance help . We collect food donations which we give to 3 local food banks as well as families we support in our community Also we are very fortunate to be able to bring a little joy to the elderly we visit in our local care homes we bring in Christmas gifts ,Easter eggs ,valentines chocolates and roses popping in for a cuppa and a chat brightens every ones day . The London Community Aid Network (London CAN) London CAN is a grassroots, volunteer-led initiative committed to supporting individuals and families facing hardship across the city. Our mission is to build a more compassionate and inclusive London by providing practical support, promoting community solidarity, and responding to the urgent needs of vulnerable populations. At the heart of our work is the belief that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and access to basic essentials—regardless of their background or circumstances. Food Distribution for Communities in Need One of our core programmes focuses on tackling food insecurity among low-income and marginalised communities. Every week, London CAN works with local partners, food banks, and volunteers to collect, prepare, and distribute fresh, nutritious meals and food parcels to those most in need—including rough sleepers, refugees, families in crisis, and elderly residents on low incomes. We understand that hunger is more than a lack of food—it’s a symptom of broader social inequality. That’s why our food support is designed not only to feed but to uplift. We offer culturally appropriate meals where possible, ensure our services are welcoming and respectful, and connect people with additional resources and support when needed.We are a newly established community initiative focused on providing free food support to individuals and families facing hardship. Operating via a mobile distribution system, we temporarily store food at a residential address before delivery. Our work is rooted in partnerships with local community groups, faith organisations, and schools who help us identify those most in need. A referral system through trusted local partners will be introduced to ensure support is accessible and well-directed. At this early stage, our sole focus is on distributing food parcels. As we grow and secure more resources, we hope to expand our services to include hygiene packs, signposting to additional support, and community outreach events. All services are provided completely free of charge. We are currently applying to join food surplus networks and aim to establish relationships with local supermarkets and food retailers as our operations develop. While we have not yet received local press coverage or launched our social media activity, we plan to actively engage the community and share updates once our food distribution begins. We are also in the process of building relationships with local organisations and welcome future collaborations.
