Anesis @North Point Church

Coventry, UK

Anesis provides food, clothing, and hygiene packs for upto 230 people every Sunday afternoon between 2.30-3.30pm, underneath the Coventry flyover. Our homeless service users are prioritised but no one is turned away. We believe in faith expressing itself through love. We also provide food parcels for Tuesday Drop In at North Point Church, Coventry, between 10am-12pm. This space welcomes members of the local community to have fellowship with one another whilst enjoying a hot drink and snack, before leaving with a food parcel. We are mostly known via word of mouth, but also receive referrals from GPs, churches, or local schools. Emergency food parcels are arranged for individuals and families on a referral and need basis. We are a small team of 20 volunteers, 10 of which serve regularly. We partner with many other local charities and have great relationships with the stores that provide food surplus. We serve a diverse population of all genders, ages, abilities, and ethnicities. The number of service users has doubled in the past 2 years. We supply fresh fruits, vegetables and bread, as well as long life products. We also make packed lunches for our homeless service users. Hygiene packs, bedding and clothing are also made available. Please get in touch if you are interested in volunteering with us, or wish to know more about rhe service we provide. We are currently in need of a social media volunteer manager, surplus collection driver or assistant, sandwich maker, fundraiser/grant specialist, and those who wish to serve on Sundays.

Mindful Meals

Stratford-upon-Avon, UK

In the heart of Warwickshire, our organization stands as a pragmatic force against the challenges of food waste. We operate with a clear mission: to intercept surplus chilled food from supermarkets and distribute it efficiently to families across Warwickshire. Our focus is on tangible solutions that not only alleviate the burden on landfills but also provide practical assistance to those in need. In practical terms, our operations extend to supporting over 100 families at present, with a commitment to expanding our reach further. The core of our initiative lies in the recognition of the dual benefits of reducing waste and supporting local communities. Our approach is grounded in the understanding that addressing the issue of surplus food requires a hands-on, systematic effort. Our ongoing efforts are rooted in the belief that sustainability is not just an ideal but a measurable and achievable goal. By navigating the logistical challenges of surplus food distribution, we aim to create a lasting impact on both the environmental and social fronts. The success of our mission hinges on practical, everyday actions that collectively contribute to a more responsible and sustainable community. We extend an invitation to individuals and organizations alike to join hands with us in this endeavor. Together, we can build a network that not only prevents food waste but also fosters a sense of shared responsibility within Warwickshire. Our vision is one of a community united in practical efforts to minimize waste and provide essential support where it is needed the most. Join us in making a difference, one distribution at a time.
