The Sikh Soup Kitchen is a volunteer-led charity based in Handsworth, Birmingham, guided by the Sikh principle of Langar—a free kitchen open to all, regardless of background or faith. Rooted in dignity and inclusivity, it provides a welcoming space where anyone facing hardship can access essential support. Each year, Sikh Soup Kitchen serves around 40,000 hot meals, offering reliable nourishment to people experiencing homelessness and financial difficulty. Alongside this, the charity provides practical, everyday essentials—including toiletries, food parcels, and clothing—ensuring that individuals have access not just to meals, but to the basic items needed for daily life. This combination of food and essential supplies creates immediate, tangible impact. Beyond this, the organisation supports longer-term wellbeing by connecting individuals with services that can assist with housing, healthcare, and financial guidance. It also plays an active role in strengthening community ties, bringing together volunteers and local groups to build a more inclusive and supportive Birmingham. Run entirely by volunteers, the charity ensures that 100% of donations go directly toward frontline support, maximising the value of every contribution. Its growing reach and consistent delivery make it a vital and trusted resource within the community. MLSS is a homeless charity called Midland Langar Seva Society. We provide food, support and relief to those on the poverty line, schools in deprived areas, safe houses, shelters and those living on the streets. MLSS operate on a Sikh based ethos, where we help and support all people regardless of social status. We cook and prepare hot meals 7 days a week in 26 towns across the UK. We also provide food goody bags to those that are vulnerable. - This Christmas get involved with our annual shoebox appeal - where MLSS provide the annual Christmas dinner at the Grand Central Station - Birmingham!

The Open Heaven Church Pantry, run entirely by volunteers, officially opened in December 2020 and the church is a registered charity No 1123352. It aims to help local families in need, relieving and helping to prevent poverty by means of food provision and is a franchise of the national Your Local Pantry network. Our Pantry is a membership-based food club and sources its food from supermarket surplus and donations to help local people struggling to meet their bills for as long as they need help. Our members, currently just over 100, can visit the Pantry once a week for a fee of £5.50. This enables them to choose food items to the value of around £15. In addition, members can choose free fresh produce e.g. fruit, vegetables, pasta and bakery items for no additional cost. The membership fee is used by the Pantry to purchase top-up food stocks as required. We desperately need more donations to provide food to those in need. We have many people who do not have enough money to pay the weekly fee and so we provide free visits and crisis provision.
