G.E.S.H is a voluntary organisation which has been running in the heart of the East End of Glasgow for over 40 years. We offer a positive hub of community, friendship & care to over 600 members, particularly those with mental & physical disabilities. G.E.S.H can also be used to provide training, social & recreational services for everyone. People around the Greater Easterhouse / Garthamlock area use the centre on a weekly basis as a thriving social club and as an entertainment and activity venue. You can also hire G.E.S.H for functions and private events. We are proud to provide our members with meal services, including a Wednesday lunch club, a tasty canteen and affordable catering for your community event. The centre is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm & then from 6pm-10pm. Opening times over the weekend may alternate & can be flexible & negotiable. Premises are wheelchair friendly.

We run two projects under the banner of The Everlasting Foodbank. Our foodbank is for people to receive emergency food in times of crisis or need. We also give people clothing, toiletries and a friendly face to chat with. Alongside food we encourage people to sit with us and chat over some coffee/tea and buiscuits. Sometimes we find that we can be the only people that someone talks to that day. We have been well supported by the local community who find us to be reassuringly approachable. Up to today we have fed over 1600 people after opening for just about 4 years. The hope and aim is to be able to be a resource for the community and help people with their immediate need but also help them to recover from their current crisis situation. We have recently launched a community cafe. This helps people in need (those who would qualify to use the foodbank) with free hot food made by our team of volunteer chefs. There is encouragement of socialising between cafe users and similar to the foodbank we have people who will sit and talk with users. The cafe provides job experience for those who use the foodbank by letting them volunteer in the cafe itself. This greatly helps to move people from reliance on foodbanks to get back into work. Alongside the cafe we also provide a one-to-one drop-in centre for help and signposting.

Spirit of Springburn is community-led development organisation, run by volunteers living locally. Our main mission is the regeneration of the Springburn area, in north Glasgow, and, following the success of the Springburn Charrette in 2019 (and our subsequent much-needed review post-pandemic!) we recently completed and published our Springburn Local Place Plan late 2025. This report details the local opinion and ideas of how to revitalise our community spaces and is a beautiful piece of work! And we're on it already! In 2022 we opened the Springburn Community Fridge, providing food to the local community with the aim of reducing food waste. Now we have over 150 people who use our community fridge on a weekly basis. We recently added our 'Monday Essentials' on top of our Wednesday Fridge. This provides Tea, coffee, sugar, legumes, cereals, etc, and other needed cupboard items. The need is great in our area and, as a passionate and dedicated group of people, we aim to make a difference in the quality of life of our local community. Feel free to visit and see what we're doing. You will be amazed with the work we're doing! Activities include: a safe space where we work with partners offering food, welfare rights assistance, mental health and local health service signposting and support, local elected member surgeries and problem solving, events, and, more recently, a significant part of the discussions and plans for the regeneration of the town centre and local areas important to our community.
