ALDI WHITBURN

At Armadale Academy we believe that no child should go hungry, therefore our aim to to provide help and support for our students and families in the form of food sharing cupboard which will help parents to access food at short notice. For families in urgent circumstances a food parcel can be made up to meet the needs of individual families. Our family support workers work closely with families 52 weeks of and deliver various clubs/courses offering support in various forms.We are also in the process of setting up a cooking workshop for families to attend and up skill. With help from the neighbourly scheme we are able to continue to offer services to the Children and families with in our community.

The objects for which the group is established are: a) the prevention or relief of poverty in shotts and surrounding areas in particular but not exclusively by providing emergency food supplies to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty; b) to provide services to people who have need of them by reason of their age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by signposting them to additional support services.

We have a combined community larder and warm hub which is open twice per week offering fresh fruit, vegetables, meat & dairy products along with a selection of ambient goods. We operate a warm hub service where service users can drop in for a warm.cuppa and a blether and in addition we are operating a telephone service to provide people with a chit chat if required helping to combat social isolation. The organisation's purposes are: to advance community development and citizenship, including regeneration (both environmental and economic) of Stoneyburn, Bents and the surrounding environs.
