How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Reston and Auchencrow Community Larder

Eyemouth, UK

We are a non-profit organisation who aim to reduce food waste by encouraging the community to share food items they won't use and pick up items they can, to create healthy balanced meals for their families. By reducing food going to landfill we also give others less fortunate the opportunity to benefit from surplus food. We regularly update our Facebook page with the food we have on offer, particularly if it is fresh and has a short shelf life. We post simple recipes and family meals to hopefully inspire people to try something different. The Larder has close links with the local foodbanks in Eyemouth and Duns and we work with Reston and Auchencrow resilient group to assist us with food distribution during Covid with people in self-isolation and shielding.

Northern Soul Kitchen

Berwick-upon-Tweed, UK

The food is offered on a Pay-As-You-Feel (PAYF) basis meaning people can pay what they think the food is worth, donate whatever amount they can afford or even volunteer their time and skills to pay for a meal - all have their value. In this way, the café is a place for everyone. We think everyone should have access to healthy food and a friendly environment in which to enjoy it. We offer workshops and talks where people can learn more about reducing food waste in their own homes and how to get the most out of shopping on a budget. In this way, we empower and educate people to produce their own healthy, affordable meals. We also want this space to be a community hub for statutory and third sector organisations where they can achieve their own aims and objectives. So, our café will tackle the following issues: - food waste in the local area - food poverty and instability - social isolation and integration - a lack of understanding about food and nutrition
