How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

We seek to offer everyone who comes through our doors a warm welcome. We are a friendly community of people who offer each other love and support through the experiences that life brings us.. Our community is made up of people from all walks of life, brought together by friendship and compassion. Whether it is offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply the comfort of knowing you are not alone, we believe in creating a space where everyone feels valued and cared for. Our commitment reaches beyond our walls; as we extend our care into the wider community by distributing collected food to a variety of local groups and individuals in St Andrews, Fife, including families on low income, older residents, Storehouse, ( Food Bank) Campus Larder (students experiencing financial difficulties), Pilgrim Care, the St Andrews Men’s Shed, the St Andrews University Transition, Eco Hub, Food No Bombs student society ( cooking vegan community meals) Wherever possible, these donations are transformed into nutritious meals that bring people together, foster connection, and help reduce food insecurity. The food we distribute is generously donated by local supermarkets and community partners (including gardens and residents), then thoughtfully sorted and shared to ensure fairness, reach those most in need, and avoid waste. Every item is used so that nothing is wasted, and every contribution — no matter how large or small — has a meaningful impact. By standing with us in this mission, you are helping to create a stronger, kinder, and more resilient community. Together, we can make sure that no one is left hungry, isolated, or unsupported, and that everyone has the opportunity to experience the warmth of a community that truly cares. We are a team! The donated food is carefully sorted, stored safely, and distributed directly to families and individuals in the community on the day of the collection, sometimes in the same hour depending on the amount As mentioned above, we work with lots of charities, student societies, and community groups that cook community meals, and our work is recognised by the whole community and the University, which included us in their annual social responsibility report 2025-2026.
