How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Community Carrot - Sunny's Kitchen

Dunbar, UK

A community meal that welcomes anyone and everyone to come and join us for a healthy plate of good food, great company and fine blether!! Bringing the community together. We also offer any fresh produce that is extra to our requirements, that can be taken at the end of the meal like a "mini foodbank" system. We have started to batch cook and freeze off portions that can be taken on a weekly basis, this also reduces any waste with excess produce. Sunny's kitchen meal is a free service.

Our Community Kitchen

Haddington, UK

Our Community Kitchen aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation across the Haddington and Lammermuir areas for people of all ages and abilities by bringing people together to eat home-cooked food and allowing for friendships to form naturally. People benefiting include the elderly, people living with Dementia, people with life-long conditions/autism, carers, people with a terminal diagnosis, younger people, wheelchair users and people who are visually impaired. Sometimes people bring their grandchildren along. We also work towards reducing holiday hunger for local children by working with schools and the local Area Partnership to offer free freshly cooked food to children and families during the holidays. New friendships are being formed across the ages. People who are lonely and who feel excluded from everyday life are feeling included and are making friends. We offer freshly cooked food each day as for many people all they have to look forward to is frozen food being delivered to their home which is unappetising and eating on your own is incredibly isolating. We are reducing the associated problems from poor nutrition and social isolation such as diseases, loneliness, isolation and mental health problems. Making human connections and having a valuable interaction with another person if you have been suffering from isolation or loneliness is immeasurable. Many people tell us they are lonely and OCK has provided a place whereby they can enjoy really good food and make friends.
