How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Grimshaw Street Community Centre

Preston, UK

We are a church based community centre based in Preston Town Centre. We run 2 "pay as you feel" markets per month and we deliver food parcels weekly either through referrals or by word of mouth. We also run a soup kitchen every Sunday feeding around 40 families per week where a food parcel is also given after they have received a hot meal. We require donations of fresh/frozen meat, vegetables, rice and pasta to support our soup kitchen which has grown in size over the last year. We support people of all denominations in both our soup kitchen and in the food parcels we supply. We rely solely on volunteers to help support the soup kitchen and the pay as you go market/ food parcels. Our aim is to help eliminate poverty as much as we can. All food and goods donated to our cause is given to our recipients free of charge. The pay as you go market contains food bought at cost from the supermarket and fareshare where the recipients can purchase good quality food with a long shelf life but pay what they can afford. We often rely on food donations at our market as these items are taken at no cost. Any remaining food from our pay as you feel market will then be donated to other charities such as Barnardos or the foxton centre.
